1. Speak With Spirits Card Text: [SPI]: Usable only by a tapped vampire. This vampire untaps and attempts to block. Once this action, this vampire can burn 1 blood to get +1 intercept. During a directed action between Methuselah A & B, Methuselah C wants to play Speak with Spirits to untap and attampt to block (failing because they cannot block the D action not targeted at them.) Question: Can you attempt to block a D action not directed at you (and of course fail)? Question: If you cannot attempt to block a D action not directed at you, could you play Speak with Spirits to untap your vampires or does the "and attempts to block" prevent this? 2. A vampire in torpor with no blood wishes to rescue himself. Can he attempt the action, designating himself to pay the cost of rescuing from torpor, and assuming that the action is successful, have the action fizzle when he cannot pay the cost. -JTP

They cannot attempt to block, as they cannot block the action at that point. You cannot attempt what you cannot do. >Question: Can you attempt to block a D action not directed at you (and of >course fail)? No. >Question: If you cannot attempt to block a D action not directed at you, >could you play Speak with Spirits to untap your vampires or does the "and >attempts to block" prevent this? The "attempts to block" prevents you from untapping with Speak with Spirits against actions that you cannot block. The vampire cannot attempt the action. You cannot attempt an action that you cannot afford. In general, your minions cannot attempt things they are incapable of doing.
