I've played a few Jyhad games with some (equally new) friends, and a
number of questions have arisen. I've looked through the messages here,
and the FAQ's I could find, and I only came up with one answer. (That
vampires entering combat from non-blocking, such as ia Haven Uncomvered,
become tapped). Thus I pose the following.
1) In what 'order' are strikes declared? Does the acting vampire say
what his strike is first, or do both minions choose a strike then declare
them both at once?
2) The rule book says that encountering a vampire in torpor, rescuing
a vampire in torpor, and diablerie are all actions (at least, the word
'action' is mentioned as being what they are). Does this mean that if I
wish to rescue/diablerise a vampire, I must take an action one turn to
encounter it, then take an action during another turn to rescue /
diablerise?
3) Do Methuselahs get a vote for being Methuselahs, or are the only votes
a Methuselah can use ones which come from vote cards and high-rank
minions?
4) Question answered by re-reading the rules regarding Destroy Equipment.
5) Thrown Gate: This card does 1R damage and gives an optional maneuver.
When does the vampire get this maneuver? The combat round in which the
Gate is used as a strike, or the next round?
6) Deal With the Devil: (silly question, I suppose). I play this master
card and it says to discard my hand and draw a new one. Now, I'm also
supposed to draw a card whenever I play one. Do I play DwtD, replace it,
THEN discard my hand, or play DwtD, discard my hand, then draw a new
hand?
That's all for now, hope these don't sound _too_ newbiesque, but you'd
be amazed what folks can find to argue over at 4am.

The acting minion chooses strike first (section 15.1, "Choose Strike")

No. The action would be "encounter Helena to rescue", "encounter Ricki
to diablerize", or what have you. One action will suffice to either get
the vampire out, or burn it.

Players don't get votes just for being in the game. They must use vampires,
political cards, etc. to gain votes. Note that if a political action card
was used to call the vote (e.g. making something an Archon, but not burning
an Archon card in play), then whoever played the card gets 1 vote from it.

The very best kind of question! :)

Optional maneuvers and presses must be used during the round in which a
card gives them to you, if they are going to be used at all.

I believe you would just draw seven for the DwtD, but I'll double check that.

Hmm. I was under the impression that the action was "Encounter
Joe in torpor", and then you got more specific after people
decided not to block. Is this not the case? Can I encounter
someone's vampire in torpor, promise to rescue it so hse doesn't
block, and then diablerize it? Or does he (and his minions)
know in advance that the real reason Mick is going to visit Joe
is to consume his flesh?

When I asked the design team about encountering vampires in torpor vs.
Obedience, they decided that the full action really is "encounter Fred
to diablerize/rescue", not "encounter Fred" or "encounter someone"
or what have you. Unlike a vote, you set the terms of the encounter before
people decide whether or not to block.
