One of the local players thinks Coagulated Entity Choose X ready Blood Brothers you control who belong to the same circle as this acting vampire. [san]: (D) Enter combat with a ready minion controlled by another Methuselah. This acting vampire has +X strength and +X capacity. Before combat begins, each chosen vampire must move 1 blood to the acting vampire or this action is canceled. [SAN]: As [san] above, and this vampire may prevent up to X damage this combat. Get to remain in play after the action is complete. Does or does it not get removed to the ash heap after use? Raille

What is his reasoning that it gets to stay in play? > Raille Kevin M., Prince of Henderson, NV (USA) "Know your enemy, and know yourself; in one-thousand battles you shall never be in peril." -- Sun Tzu, *The Art of War* "Contentment... [ quoted text not captured ] Well, the card does not contain any the following sentences: "Put this card in play" or "Put this card on this acting vampire". So it is the same case as Bum's Rush, for instance. It gets moved to the ash heap after use. Name: Bum's Rush [Jyhad:C, VTES:C, SW:PB2, FN:PA3/PG3, CE:C/PB7/PN5, Anarchs:PG4] Cardtype: Action Do not replace until the end of this action. (D) Enter combat with a ready minion controlled by another Methuselah. The acting minion gets an optional maneuver during this combat. Greetings, Damnans

He thought that carried over. Since the card did not say put in play I ruled it was a temp thing, He wanted me to inquire and get an official responce. Raille

One says:"THIS" action, and THIS combat. The other says: this vampire gets +x strength and +x capacity. It never says for how long. compare it to: Death of my concience: Requires a vampire with a capacity above 5. Do not replace this card until after combat. Play before strikes are chosen. [pot] Burn up to 4 cards in your hand. For each card you burn this way, this vampire gets +1 strength for the remainder of combat. Do not replace these cards until after combat. [POT] As above, but this vampire gets +2 strength for the remainder of combat for each card you burn this way. This says for the remainder of combat. All cards say for how long it counts...or say it should be put on the vampire. This one doesn't fit in either.... Or am i missing something? (ofcourse making it last for the rest of the game would be way too good) W

Most of them don't have timing specified on their card texts, for that reason. By a ruling (23-Jun-1998), combat cards default to lasting for the duration of the current round. Combat cards that have other durations than that must now specify in card text (so, a lot of them do). Action cards default to being done with when their action is resolved, unless they have card text saying "put this card in play" (or "put this card on the acting vampire" or some such). I don't think there's a general ruling on this one, but there is a specific clarification (?) on Coagulated Entity: [LSJ 18-Dec-2001] www.google.com/groups?selm=3C1FF593.9D751F43%40white-wolf.com Also, compare to Border Skirmish: "Each other Methuselah discards one card at random from his or her hand, and this anarch untaps at the end of the turn." You wouldn't assume that this anarch untaps at the end of *every* turn as a result of playing this card, would you? Same reason: normally an action's effects end when the action is done, unless the card says otherwise. Josh un effected
