Deck Name: Tremere Blood Drive
Created By: Thrall of Arika
Description:
Always wanted to play around with draining blood off vampires, and the
Tremere seem well equipped to do so. Main idea was to drain blood to
force vampires to hunt, catch them and burn with Marisa Fletcher, or
torporize. A couple of bad plays on my part hasn't allowed me to really
test and try this deck yet, but I think it has some potential. The main
problems I've encountered so far are pool gain, and surprisingly, blood
gain for the vampires. Rarely seem to draw into my Thefts and such when
I could really use them.
For some odd reason, I put [DECK] in the subject of my other two posts,
but they did not appear when posted.

I really think this crypt is too big. You want to take a lot of
actions and this crypt is just too large to get enough guys out. It
might be a great crypt for a diffrent deck, but for yours you want
small caps. anyone with tha and cap >4 is perfect. you don't really
have to stick to just tremere. tremere antitribu add some really great
vampires for your deck, not to mention Magdelena Schaefer

this is actualy pretty good. I would drop the minion tap and replace
with society of leopold. I might double up on the chantry. I don't
really know what you want to do with the legacy of caine. If you could
play it on your own guys I would love it. You can't so I don't.

Dude, let me tell you about this little card named cryptic misssion.
add 20 and have a very good day. If your idea is to burn blood off of
vampires then you are playing a defacto cryptic mission deck. A
cryptic mission-less cryptic mission deck I just don't see working out.

Sure. Auspex is good. A little bounce wouldn't hurt but if you reduce
the capacity of your crypt the extra pool you save is effectivly
another layer of defense.

ahh, your not a blood burning deck, your a combat deck.... seriously.
drop it all except for 5 thefts 5 apportations 2 walk of flame. you'll
be amazed.

I see gregory winter. good. Add Thadius Zho, Mage. Once you reduce
the cost of your crypt you will be able to afford him no problem.

Charnas the imp is good too.

2 of these are very marginal cards for you overall. Restricted vitae
is good though.

If you're using Google, I think it trims off those tags when
displaying. I think the tags still exist.

Take Hellbent's advice and reduce the average capacity of this crypt.
There's nothing wrong with Hannigan.

Go down to 20-24 combat cards. 10-12 maneuvers and 10-12 Theft ought
to work nicely. Change every card freed up in this manner into Cryptic
Mission.

Love the blood denial.

I do agree with both of you that my crypt is a bit big ... but I'm also
no fan of playing weenies. I've looked at Cryptic Mission decks before,
but the idea doesn't really grab me. Lucas and Oliver will definitely
come out ... Ardan's a tough choice, as I like his special for my deck.
Oh, but I so much prefer superior thaumaturgy to inferior ... maybe a
Tremere Convocation as well ... hmmm, will see what happens to the
updated crypt.
Really, the whole idea originally was 'how do I burn blood off
vampires', and Tremere are very good at that, but then expanded to
adding outside cards to go with the main idea of draining blood and
making the best use of doing so. So I wanted combat capable Tremere,
draining blood quickly from opponent vampires, ideally to torporize,
burn, or just keep in a hunt cycle.
So I will trim down the capacity, though think I'll stick with Tremere,
to get the best use out of the master cards.

Dorrinal: I have no idea how I forgot Arcane Library. Definitely going
in. And the Society is a good idea too, forgot about that one. I do
want Chantry, and has saved me one game. Despite the blood drain, with
no real defense beyond Theft, I find the Tremere seem to like torpor
too, so being able to pull them out with Chantry is a definitely bonus.
I think I will dump the Minion Tap, seeing as I want to keep my
vampires pretty full at all times, but maybe another Blood Doll to help
with keeping my pool afloat.
The Legacy of Caine was just an after thought, partly I hadn't fully
read the card and didn't realize I couldn't play it on my own vamps,
but also to force an opponent's vampire to go after someone to get
blood back, a 0 stealth hunt is easier to block than a +1 stealth one.
But yeah, pretty situational, so it's gone.

I do know about Cryptic Mission, and may try it one day, but as I said
above, this wasn't meant to be a Cryptic Mission deck. I just feel
weenies are fragile, and Tremere weenies more so. True, I could get
most of the Missions off, but I'm likely to be caught once or twice,
and with little combat to back things up, my Tremere are going to
torpor with little happening to the opposing vampire. Though with
superiour Thaum, there is some blood gain to be had there.

Agreed, bounce is always good, but what to take out to put that in?
I'll reduce the crypt size, so as you say, that should help keep pool
where it belongs.

I'll work on a separate Cryptic Mission deck and follow this advice. I
agree that such a deck would need far less combat.

Thadius is an idea ... even Outcast wouldn't be too bad ... just
finding the space for them is the problem.

Charnas is a good idea too ... I often overlook the little guy, but I
can see him working well with the deck idea.

With the deck idea, Marisa is a good one. She also helps keep down
blood doll bloat, plus with all the other hunt-messing stuff. And if
she's topped up enough, you can XTC a vamp that's bothering you, catch
and burn them when they're forced to hunt. Really should have another
XTC in there too ... Restricted Vitae keep them from trying to keep
topped up, and Torpid Blood for when I torporize vamps, makes it all
the harder for them, if not impossible, while for me I can use Chantry.
Then their big vamps stay in torpor for me to diablerize at my leisure.
Perhaps a Dragonbound as well?
Thanks for all the help!

As others have said, smallify this a bit. There are definitely some
good !Tremere you can work into the mix without screwing up all your
clan-requiring cards, as well. Hannigan, Selena and Ladislas Toth are
all very solid.

See my advice on your combat package below as to why you don't need Mob
Connections.
Strained Vitae supply should just be intercept locations, which have
the same effect when someone else is hunting and will also help you
stay alive against threats.
Vampiric Disease probably isn't worth running if you're not going to be
using permanent sources of maneuvers, as it'll come back and bite you
in the ass at some point or another.
XTC-Laced Blood is essentially a wasted slot and MPA; if you're lucky,
another one of your prey's minions will take the action to remove it,
and if you can block that, why not just block the guy hunting in the
first place? (If you're unlucky, someone will get rid of it
crosstable.)
Elder Library might be a decent replacement for some of these if you
want to keep the events.

I'm not really a fan of Rutor's Hand for a crypt like the one you've
got, but if it works for you, go for it. You can probably drop one
Graverobbing and the Seeds of Corruption.
> Reaction (15 cards)

This should be supplemented with more permanent intercept.

Too much going on here, particularly for your deck. The aim of your
deck is to strip blood off your prey's minions, so stick with what
works for that. You don't need all this second-round nonsense.
10-12 Theft
10-12 Movement of the Mind
2-4 Soul Burn or Blood Fury
At the very least, this package will free up 10 slots that can be
better used for more useful stuff.

With Thaumaturgy combat, Procurer is silly. Get another NWC in there
instead.

There should be a .44, Bowl of Convergence, and probably Sport Bike in
here as well.

These are pretty solid, though the handsize restrictions might hurt you
more than they're worth.

what happens if you XTC laced blood a guy with restricted vitae in
play?
must hunt/can't hunt. do they explose and take all the players at the
table with them?
or as it seems clear to me as I write this... the XTC forces them to
hunt, over riding the restricted vitae's provision of can't hunt until
forced to. seems clear once I think about it.

new stupid deck trick! Restricted Vitae, XTC, Anarchs w/ Hospital Food

That doesn't make any sense.
In the past, you have ruled that "If a minion must do something, but is
expressly forbidden from doing soming then they can do nothing."
How is this an exception to that? By fiat?

For reasons that remain mysterious, google groups makes tags in [ ]
marks in your subject line invisible, but they still show up on regular
newsreaders. I'm kind of at a loss as to why they haven't figured out
to fix that yet.

I assume - no, by virtue of having the "unless forced to" clause on the
prohibitive effect.
Restricted Vitae
Gehenna.
Do not replace until a vampire successfully hunts. Vampires cannot hunt
unless forced to hunt. A vampire who must hunt may hunt by stealing a
blood from a younger vampireas a (D) action instead of performing the
usual hunt action.
Restricted Vitae has a different effect on vampires who are not forced
to hunt (preventing them from hunting) and those who are forced to hunt
(allowing them to hunt by stealing a blood from a younger vampire).

No, by card text. As Daneel pointed out, it's the texts that matter.
It's not a case of simultaneously must hunt and can't hunt. It's a case
of Restricted saying they can't hunt _unless forced to_. XTC, by it's
explicit card text, forces them to hunt. So there's no contradiction.

That's what I get for not reading the card. Must get out of "Argue

It's not really going to work, since you can only play XTC-Laced Blood
on someone else's vampires (unless you're hunting out of turn with a
Madness Network).

steal someone's weenie and use it like a cryptic mission junkie! XTC
another meth's weenie, steal it with Reformation. :D they're moderately
useful cards on their own anyways. though, it's probably gonna face
plant and die horribly, but think of the fun! btw, i'm gonna see if i
can squeeze in your brilliant Madness Network idea...

Ah, the stealing-another-guy part was what I missed.
Your big issue is going to be keeping the XTC on the guy you steal,
since anyone can remove it as an action. Good luck, though; it's a
funny concept.
