Here is what I'd do to make them better. (1) Extend the round time from 1:40 to 2:15 and cut the interval to 15 minutes (since results don't affect R2/3 pairings, they can be made during R1). (2) Unrestrict the vote cards and use one-push. (3) Grant a full VP for surviving the round (ie it's as if everyone withdrew at once). (4) Count blood on an ousted player's vampires for purposes of the second tie-break. (5) Simplify the rank points: 24-18-12-6-0 for a table of five, 24-16-8-0 for four (avoids fractions). Opinions? I've talked to them about the limits, and believe they're going to change the rules from a fixed time limit and number of rounds to a minimum time limit and number of rounds. >(2) Unrestrict the vote cards and use one-push. Again, the DC does not have power over the rules of the game. The vote cards will remain restricted until we change the vote-pushing rules for the game in general. We are probably going to do this, but we don't know yet what we'll be changing them to, or whether we'll be changing them prior to the next edition. >(3) Grant a full VP for surviving the round (ie it's as if everyone >withdrew at once). I actually think this is a bad idea, since it will encourage people to play largely defensive decks, and I think you'll slowly escalate towards having people scoring only 1 or 2 VP per game, and a lot more tiebreakers will be required. >(4) Count blood on an ousted player's vampires for purposes of the second >tie-break. I'm not sure what this is supposed to accomplish. >(5) Simplify the rank points: 24-18-12-6-0 for a table of five, 24-16-8-0 >for four (avoids fractions). We're going to (hopefully) eliminate fractions, yes. Tom Wylie rec.games.trading-cards.* Network Representative for aa...@cats.ucsc.edu Wizards of the Coast, Inc.
