Well it's that time again! Time for the 2010 Nossies, where you the
fans choose the best cards of the past year. This year is a little
different from years past, because there was only one expansion
released in 2009 - Ebony Kingdom. Therefore, there won't be a Best
Event category since their was only one event card released.
The Categories this year are:
* Best Card of the Year (Can be a Library or Crypt card)
* Best Vampire in a Lead Role
* Best Vampire in a Supporting Role
* Best Ally or Retainer
* Best Equipment
* Best Artwork in a Crypt Card
* Best Artwork in a Library Card
Please visit http://CharlotteByNight.com and click the Nossies 2010
link for directions on how to submit your nominations.
The nomination process is open for the next week. Nominations will be
tallied Wednesday morning, March 24.

Reserving artwork votes until later. I didn't buy much EK so I'm not familiar
with it all off the top of my head...
my opinions and some thoughts why...
Best Card of the Year:
Bamba (brings some sect breeding parity for Laibon)
Best Vampire in a Lead Role:
Lucian (most amusing new soloist power bleed deck -- now with Orun!
*snort*)
Best Vampire in a Supporting Role:
Nana Buruku (just awesome vampire ability. Anson still rules because
of bounce. same reason Lucian beats her too...)
Best Ally or Retainer:
Tunnel Runner (it bleeds, at stealth, repeatedly! nice)
Best Equipment:
Reilquary: Trinket (hand size and cycling in one card; two critical
techs in one card, available en masse for the whole sect. good.)
Best Artwork in a Crypt Card:
Abiku (love the look. Abiku refers to bad children spirits that
repeatedly are born in order to die young, in order to nourish on the
tears of parents. the haughty and knowing baby face captures the
mythology pretty concisely.)
Best Artwork in a Library Card:
Despiral (vampiric soiree... now with dashikis!)

Damn, Joz. You made me spill my coffee all over my pants! :-)))

How about the promos from Eden's Legacy? Those were released in 2009.
If so, how about the nominations:
Best Vampire in a Supporting Role: Yazid Tamari (Advanced) :-)
Best Equipment: Codex of the Edenic Groundskeepers

And Joz probably isn't even going to give credit where it's due. Ah,
well.
Really, the Devil-Chicken should be given some kind of Lifetime
Achievement Award for being the best ally in the game. Love that lil'
guy!

I wasn't sure where the nickname came from.
I knew it wasn't me, and I know you obviously use it a lot. :)
Go ahead and take the credit, glory-hound :)
It is rather dubious that with only one (mini) set released within a
year, the promos of that same year are not included at all.
In 2009 a massive amount of 11 promos were released. Ebony Kingdom
contained 60 cards.
So, more than 15% of the released cards of 2009 are just ignored! It
just doesn't seem right.

I understand your point and it's well argued. I'm not anti-promo, my
thinking was that everyone can ID an Ebony Kingdom card, but I had
doubts how accurate people are with understanding which promo cards
came out which year. Even I have several promos and it's all a blur
to me when/where I got them.
If you want to nominate a promo, I'll change my mind and say go ahead.

Is it really that difficult to check which promos there are?
A source could be the official WW website:
http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/index.php?line=checklist_Promos
Or look at a VTES search tool like the Secret Library:
http://www.secretlibrary.info/index.php
Is it a blur?
Yes it is! I used the secret library, but only checked the library
cards and forgot about the crypt cards. It turns out that there are 13
promos in 2009 (and not 11). :)
To nominate a card:
Best Event: The Fourth Cycle. (and yes I mean that)
The problem is of course that a lot of people already casted their
votes. It is too late. But I hope next year the promos will be
included.
H
BTW. I like the initiative of the nominations.
