Dumb question, just to be sure: Are corruption counters from Venenation (action mod.) and Corruption (action) cumulative? thank you.

[ quoted text not captured ] I am under the impression that the counters from each are cumulative with each other, although that is not expressly stated anywhere. In other words, Anson with 3 counters from Venenation, 2 from Corruption, and 3 from Nefertiti makes for a very sad state of affairs for Anson's controller. chris -- chris shorb <www.vtesinla.org> (A V:TES site in development) prince of torrance, california Ultimate Disc - Hockey - Vampire the Eternal Struggle Ebay page <http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/vtessingles/>

However, there is a suble difference between Venenation's counters and Nefertit's counters. Anson can have 8 of Nefertiti's counters on him (with him being an 8 cap; no skill or capacity raising effects on him) and still not be stolen. by Nefertiti's controller. Anson would need to have a Corruption counter by either "Corruption" or "Venenation" to actualy be stolen at that point. (D) Put a corruption counter on a vampire or ally controlled by your prey. If the number of your corruption counters on the minion equals or exceeds the blood capacity of that vampire or the cost of that ally, you may burn all of your corruption counters on that minion to gain control of him or her." Veneation "Only usable when this acting minion is blocked, before combat begins. [ser] Place a corruption counter on the blocking minion. If the number of your corruption counters on the minion equals or exceeds the blood capacity of that vampire or the cost of that ally, you may burn all of your corruption counters on that minion to gain control of him or her (instead of starting combat). Otherwise, combat occurs as normal. [SER] As above, but the cost of this card is reduced by 1 blood." Nefertiti "Independent. Nefertiti can place a corruption counter on a minion controlled by your prey as a +1 stealth (D) action that costs 1 blood. +1 bleed." They come from different sources ( and potentially have different owners ) but Corruption and Veneation don't care where they come from, they only care who owns them.

There is a clause in the above card text that tells you what you can do (take control) if the number of counters is >= capacity. > Veneation > "Only usable when this acting minion is blocked, before combat begins. It doesn't say what happens if there are counters >= the minions capacity. > They come from different sources ( and potentially have different owners ) > but Corruption and Veneation don't care where they come from, they only care > who owns them. Indeed. However, Nefertiti doesn't have text indicating what happens when her corruption counters are >= capacity. You need a "Corruption" or "Venenation" for that. This is why I said Anson can have 8 Nefertiti counters on him and still not be stealable by Nefertiti's controller. Sorrow --- "This is my costume. I'm a homicidal maniac. The counters are all the same. The difference comes in the resolution of the effect - Venenation's effect allows the counters (which are all the same) to be burned for some effect. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. Yes. Nefertiti has no text allowing you to use the Corruption Counters she places to take control of a vampire. You must play a Corruption action card or a Venenation action modifier to take control of a vampire with Corruption Counters. Carpe noctem. Yes. Only cards such as Corruption and Venenation have the text regarding stealing vampires. >Is this true? Yes. Corruption counters are only handled via card text - there are no actual rules to handle them. You always need card text to interact with them or do anything with them. [ quoted text not captured ]
