Hi :)) I got this card yesterday in one of my Sabbat War booster packs : The Coven (Unique master) Gain a master phase action and put this card into play. Tap to move 2 blood from the blood bank to a ready vampire you control. At the end of your turn, your predator takes control of The Coven. [great art by Brian LeBlanc !!] I don't really understand what this card does. I get the "Tap to move 2 blood from the blood bank to a ready vampire you control. At the end of your turn, your predator takes control of The Coven.". But it's not clear to me what "Gain a master phase action and put this card into play." means. Does it mean that I can 2 masters from now on ? Does it mean that I can play another master just for this turn, after I played The Coven ? Also, does the last sentence mean that my predator just gets to use The Coven to put blood on his vamps, or does he also get 2 master phases ? If he does get 2 master phases, is it for just 1 turn too ? Thanks ;]] JC H2O Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

Given that, I think the card works as follows: when you play it, you get a master phase action, so effectively it does not cost a master phase action to play. This handles the card coming into play. After that, though, it has no effect on master phase actions. This card gets more interesting with Reversal of Fortunes. -- William Burke, passenge...@hotmail.com. HTH. It means that you gain one master phase action (once only, not on an ongoing basis), which you can use to either play another master card, or draw a blood from an Investment card, etc. Naturally, the master phase action you gain must be used immediately (this master phase). Unused master phase actions are never saved up from turn to turn. > Does it mean that I can 2 masters from now on ? Yes (or draw a blood off your short term investment. > Also, does the last sentence mean that my predator just gets to use The > Coven to put blood on his vamps, or does he also get 2 master phases ? Just to put blood on the vamps. (This is a card that "benefits everybody", but since it benefits you immediately, and your prey several turns later, it is to your overall advantage). > If he does get 2 master phases, is it for just 1 turn too ? Card text gives no indication of this. The gaining of an extra master phase action applies only when the card enters play. Once you have gained your extra master phase action, THEN the card enters play. -- John Whelan

1. Unique Master 2. Circulating Unique Master 3. Benefits all... ...unless you play another one to contest it, thus being able to remove the copy aiding others to put into motion another to benefit you. Or am I interpreting the 'contest' rule wrong in this case? Sounds like a great incentive for people to pass Reversal of Fortune, just before you toss out Millicent Smith. Tap the Coven and pass it on. 3. After your grandprey uses and passes on the Coven, play another to contest it (note that your prey never gets to use it). Play a normal master as well. 4. Minion phase: play Thanks for the Donation. =) Regain your Coven on your next untap. Repeat until your prey begins beating you with a stick. (granted, he'll never ACTUALLY contest it with you and lose pool, but it's an effective way to piss him off.) Another, possibly better option would be to contest it IMMEDIATELY after passing it backwards - so if your predator doesn't use it on his turn, he is faced with either yielding it, giving you a chance to repeat the process, or trying to keep it and bleeding his grandprey for 1 pool every turn. :) This could possibly even work if your predator passes it to his OWN predator, since everyone is going to want to use the thing. :) -- Derek "Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge." - C. Exactly! Much more eloquently put than I, I must say! And having a 2nd Millicent for that Reversal would be handy when she comes back after you... Play some other master with the extra Master Phase Action. 4. Yield both copies next untap, having gotten benefit without having to give a good card to your prey. expensive in terms of cardflow, but it's an unblockable inferior Restoration that doesn't require an action.
