Nightmare Curse: better than SensDep(LSJ)?

At secondary and superior lvl, NC acts like a sensdep, but with a significant change other than the lower blood cost. "the minion with this card does not untap as normal" Sensdep specifies "as normal during the untap phase", so does NC therefore restrict the minion from using untaps like rats warning, metro underground, masikas special, etc.? Or was the card meant to include the secondary text above "during the untap phase". Otherwise, I would read it as restricting the vamp from auxilliary untaps like above. T

<Talo...@nospam.hotmail.com> schrieb in im Newsbeitrag: 3c24facf.82971962@news... [ quoted text not captured ] It seems to me that the only time a minion "untaps as normal" is during the untap phase. All other ways of untaping are not the normal way of untapping and thus prohibited by the card's text. Could be wrong of course. M.

In message <3c24facf.82971962@news>, Talo...@nospam.hotmail.com mumbled something about: >At secondary and superior lvl, NC acts like a sensdep, but with a >significant change other than the lower blood cost. The superior includes "tap that minion", making it marginally stronger than Sensory Deprivation. It is worth noting that no vampire currently in the game possesses both superior Auspex and superior Chimerstry. >"the minion with this card does not untap as normal" > >Sensdep specifies "as normal during the untap phase", so does NC >therefore restrict the minion from using untaps like rats warning, >metro underground, masikas special, etc.? All the effects you list are not "normal" untaps. There is only one "normal" time a minion untaps -- during the untap phase. So NC does not restrict Rat's Warning, Majesty, or any other untap effects. Things like Rat's Warning are "abnormal" untaps, as they are specific card effects that override the rules. Sensory Deprivation's additional text dates from Dark Sovereigns and is redundant (although it confirms that the untap phase is, indeed, the "normal" time to untap). To achieve the effect you are thinking of, we look at inferior Sleeping Mind, which restricts inferior Cat's Guidance, Majesty, Earth Meld, Rat's Warning, and a number of other cards: "[DOM] Only usable when the acting vampire's action is announced. Minions cannot untap during this action." ...Note the lack of "as normal" in the text. -- "Grod come smash THAT vampire now."
