Michael DiCarlo - Assamite 5-cap group 4 CEL qui obf If Michael successfully performs an action to enter combat with another minion, he may set the range in the first round of that combat to long (skip the determine range step). (The blood curse does not affect Michael). Cool! Rush, disguise out a Mark V, Pursuit, Taste of Agg. Mmmm.

[ quoted text not captured ] What is the timing for using his ability? Do you choose to use this as soon as the action is successful (before combat similar to Storm Sewers and Gang Tactics)? Or do you choose to use this before range is determined (same window as Cailean, Shadow Step, and High Ground)? Based on the card text I would say the former, but I just want to confirm. Thanks!

[ quoted text not captured ] Since he'll be acting, it shouldn't matter much (not a lot of reactive set-range-before-combat effects out there). But sure, he sets it when the action is successful (or he may choose not to set it, of course). -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. Ok here's the question then: is the resolution of enter combat actions going to change? Because it was my understanding that enter combat actions were not successful until the action ended, which is after the resulting combat. Thus why you can't draw up for bums rush when you reach your target. G

Matthew T. Morgan

[ quoted text not captured ] An action is successful when it goes unblocked. If Michael takes an action to enter combat, isn't blocked and reaches his target, he gets to set range to long. I don't see what's unclear about that. As for Bum's Rush not being replaced, that's because it says "Do not replace until the end of this action." Again, pretty clear to me. Matt Morgan

[ quoted text not captured ] What Matt said. Plus, note that there is a difference between determining that an action is successful (or not) and 'the action has ended'; there are plenty of effects that can only take place after an action has been determined to be successful or unsuccessful that are still part of the action; one such would be Spying Mission (at superior). Plus, you can do fun things like 'I Bum's Rush your vampire, who does not block; I strike Form of Mist, continue the action at +1 stealth and enter combat with you again' (not that you necessarily would WANT to do this, but you can.) The fact that the action was unblocked does not mean that the action has ended either as you enter, during, or immediately after that initial combat. -John Flournoy

You can use Form of Mist to *continue* the action, not to do it again.

"Jozxyqk" <jfeu...@eecs.tufts.edu> wrote in message news:wvidncyBHrR...@comcast.com... [ quoted text not captured ] Correct. If you play Form of Mist to continue from a successful Bum's Rush combat, you "continue" the action -- which means end it since you've already applied the effects of the successful action. Luis Duarte - Powerbase:Lisbon

[ quoted text not captured ] Or a Sniper Rifle to have both control while acting and blocking (if he can but that's a different story). Anyway this vampire is a 5-cap combat monster, friend of Haven Uncovered. .- Luis Duarte

I'm running a (mostly) Assamite Flurry of Action deck right now that calls votes (with Alamut for support) and recruits blood-draining allies like Gregory Winter, The Ghouls of Plaza M, and Marajiva Ghouls with its second action. He'll fit right in. I believe this is the first Sabbat Assamite we've seen that isn't Black Hand. "Boot" Hill will probably be a second--I don't think he was Black Hand in the sourcebooks. I do hope at least one of the new Assamites is Black Hand, though. I love playing with the BH toys.

Curious, though, that you point out Haven Uncovered rather than, say, Contract... Y'know... with him bein' an Assamite and all... John

[ quoted text not captured ] Wow, that is actually a very good vampire. A friend of mine plays a nasty Assamite rush deck with lots and lots of the long-range-only strikes (Blood Sweat and Tase of Death). It's a strong deck, it won a 16-player Sydney tournament recently. One problem he has is not always having manuevers (or having enough). This guy can stealth a rush action with obf or use a haven and get a guaranteed long-range strike. Blood Sweat the blood off them, additional and Taste to bin or burn. This guy will go very well in these sorts of decks I think. Not as discipline-focuses as say Abd Al Rashid but a really useful special. Thank god Assamites are getting some strong vampires to make up for their weaknesses (no intercept, no flick).

Not sure if you'd want the cost of the Master slot, though, as it's not a Trifle like some of the weaker Archetypes. The fact that you can't do it for other reasons doesn't invalidate this reason. This reason would apply even if the stealth were not a problem. just for me to get a thing clear, almost same scenario, a vampire rushing someone, but he´s blocked. he then plays Trap (or conquer the beast) and hurts the blocker real bad without sending him to torpor or burning him, press to continue the vampire then plays form of myst (or shadow body). the original rush goes on and then i can beat up two vampires in a row with only one action. this is correct and possible, right?

It starts a new combat when that combat ends. [ quoted text not captured ]

Psyche's combat is... another combat, so I think that he can't do that :]

Yes. If you get blocked, you can Form of Mist (or other continue action strike) during any strike on any round, not just the first strike of the first round). The action (rush, bleed, whatever) will then continue a if unblocked even though several rounds of block-combat have been done (and pain inflicted). [ quoted text not captured ]
