Here's some rulings: Spying Mission - Action Modifier (ob): Is only played if you know the bleed is successful, i.e., after you would normally play action modifiers. [TOM 960226] Is only played after all Reaction cards (as well as other Action Moifiers) have been played. In particular, Telepathic Counter no longer 'beats' Spying Mission unless it is played first (and the bleed is not boosted back to positive). [TOM 960303] After successfully being played, it must be burned on the next unblocked bleed against the same Methuselah, provided the bleed is not reduced to zero by other modifiers. [TOM] The bleed it is played on is considered unsuccessful. Previous Spying Missions won't be cashed in during that action. [RTR 960530] TOM rulings were handed down by Tom Wylie when he was the official WotC net representative. If there are numbers, they indicate _when_ the ruling was handed down. The funny thing about rulings is making sure you read them correctly. Note: Telepathic Counter no longer 'beats' Spying Mission UNLESS it is played first... and in your case, telepathic counter WAS played first. Also, the rulings state that you MUST wait until it was a "successful" bleed, so after most Action Mod.'s are played... so one really can't play telepathic counter afterwards... : I'd just like to know how many other people out their share my : warped logic (possibly inherited from Magic) and would appreciate : any comments. Hello... I'd like to ask you knowledgable people about the card "Spy Mission" in Jyhad. Here's what happened to me: I bled a fellow methuselah for 1 bleed. He telepathic countered it to zero blood. I then played "Spy Mission". The rest of the people in the game told me "YOU CAN'T DO THAT!" I ask why... the card does not specifically say anything like "after a SUCCESSFUL bleed" or "you must remove pool". It just says "INSTEAD of removing pool, play spy mission". Now, I look at it as "INSTEAD" of removing ZERO pool, I play spy mission. However, I am greatly outnumbered by my friends here (about 5 to 1), and I doubt I am right. I'd just like to know how many other people out their share my warped logic (possibly inherited from Magic) and would appreciate any comments. thanks! Your friends were right - you cannot play Spying Mission (superior) on a bleed of zero or less. -- L.
