Hello Just trying to have fun with some new cards from Gehenna. What happens during my next untap phase if I play Baltimore's Purge, then freak drive (or Zilliah's Tears), then Descent into Darkness with the same vampire. Will Baltimore's Purge still trigger at the untap phase following the return to play of this vampire ? Relevant Texts : Descent into Darkenss 1 Blood +1 stealth action. [obt] Turn the acting vampire and any cards on him or her face down, out of play (breaking any temporary control effects). Put this card on him or her (in play). During your influence phase, move 2 blood to this face-down vampire from the blood bank, and you can choose to burn this card to return the vampire to play, tapped. [OBT] As above, but the vampire is untapped when he or she returns to play. Baltimore's Purge Requires a ready vampire. If this vampire is Ravnos, this action is at +1 stealth. Put this card on the acting vampire. During your untap phase, burn this card, and each other Methuselah chooses a ready vampire he or she controls who is not older than this vampire. If you control a ready Lasombra, you choose the vampires instead. This vampire and the chosen vampires go to torpor. Mathieu Dewavrin Prince of Nantes

Yes. While the vampire is in darkness, the BP is out of play, so doesn't trigger. When the vampire returns, the BP will go off in your next untap phase. --Colin McGuigan

An out-of-play purge does nothing. When you have an untap phase come around *and* the purge is in play, then it "activates". -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. Since Baltimore Purge will have been 'put on the acting vampire' per its card text, it will be turned face-down by Descent into Darkness and be out of play - and thus unable to trigger while that condition exists. When the vampire comes back face-up, so does the Purge. > Will Baltimore's Purge still trigger at the untap phase following the > return to play of this vampire ? Yes, because during your untap phase the Purge will be in play, and its text says that it takes effect then - the Purge says nothing about your _next_ untap phase; it activates whenever it is your untap phase and the Purge is actively in play. So yeah, this'd be a way to delay a Purge for future turns, although there would still be a cycle of other people's turns between your flipping it back up (your influence phase) and the next untap phase you get. > Relevant Texts : > > Descent into Darkenss > 1 Blood > +1 stealth action.
