What does everyone think of the following card ideas? Apologies if these
ideas have already been posted in some form. Just had the ideas over the
past couple weeks and wanted to see what fellow players though:
Blood Pact
Unique Master
(version 1)
[free]
Put this card on a minion controlled by another methusalah. You still
control this card. Each time this minion enters torpor, you gain 1 pool.
-or-
(version 2)
[1 Pool]
Put this card on a minion controlled by another methusalah. You still
control this card. Each time this minion leaves the ready region, you gain
1 pool.
The thought here is that the second version can also be utilized by Ravnos
Reality decks and Banishment decks--hence why it would cost a pool. Also
works nicely for contesting, etc.
also:
<insert relevant name here...my idea was "Redemption of the Elders">
Master Out-of-Turn
[1 Pool]
Only usable in combat when an opposing minion attempts to inflict more than
3 damage with a single strike. Combat ends and the opposing minion goes to
torpor.
This should probably really cost 2 pool. Was pondering the implications of
this earlier. Maybe have it cost 1 pool and have it not be usable in
response to damage inflicted by weapons?

I like the first one better. I could take or leave the whole concept though.

Call it Unwanted Attention or some Masquerady sort of name. Also add the
text "Usuable during your own minion phase" like Gangrel Conspiracy.
Just my suggestion.

And when burning minions. I like the first version best though.

I think 1 pool is too cheap and 2 pool too expensive, so how about:
Master Out-of-Turn
[1 Pool]
Only usable in combat when an opposing minion successfully inflicts more
than
3 damage in the current strike resolution. Opposing minion goes to torpor.
You still ge the damage yourself, but it now covers Carrion Crows + 1 dmg
strike etc too. Also add Matt Latham's comment about playable in your own
turn.
Both card ideas are quite neat I think. Especially the first one, let combat
decks have some pool gain. But unless they rescue the minion and send it in
torpor again it's worse than Ascendance. Maybe make it only playable on
8-caps or higher, and with more than 3 blood on them, but you gain 2 pool
instead?

How does it "cover" them, or any differently to the previous texts?

I play Master : Animalism on Basil. Basil computer hacks you. You 2nd trad
to block. Before range, he plays Drawing out the beast. You are trying to
inflict him 3 damage, so you go to torpor.
I can't feel good about this...
And why eveyrone wants to hamper dedicated combat decks ?

It wouldn't work in this situation. You need to inflict MORE than 3 damage
from a single strike. Its easy to hit for 3, but you need a little more
help to bump it up to 4 damage in a single strike. I'm thinking I like
Roger's addition of the minion taking the damage prior to combat ending.
You're right though...this could get nasty with Drawing Out the Beast. Of
course, you have to play 3 Drawings before you can play the 1 master card.
> And why eveyrone wants to hamper dedicated combat decks ?
Not hamper...just balance in light of the previous card. I'm mostly playing
combat decks these days as its a very fun strategy. Just need to have
something to balance out the pool gain from the proposed "Blood Pact" :)

A vampire can only play one DOtB each combat.

Correction: I meant ot say "Carrion Crows + 2 dmg" since that's MORE than 3,
which is required. My suggestion covers Carrion Crows' damage while the
original text did not since it required the damage to come from a strike.
Original text:
<insert relevant name here...my idea was "Redemption of the Elders">
Master Out-of-Turn
[1 Pool]
Only usable in combat when an opposing minion attempts to inflict more than
3 damage with a single strike. Combat ends and the opposing minion goes to
torpor. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Emphasis is mine.

You card text will not count Carrion Crows' damage at all. It is not
inflicted by a minion.

eh *embarrassed* sorry I guess I'm not paying attention to my own texts =)
Should read "when more than 3 damage is successfully inflicted on this
minion" or something similar. Well you get the idea :)

But the problem is that when you start to count environmental damage like
Carrion Crows, then you have to count other sources of environmental damage as
well...
Let's see: Watenda Bum's Rushes Beast, plays a Disguised Weapon for a Bomb,
uses the Bomb (which inflicts more than 3 damage to him) and I can also nail
Beast with this new card. Or a simple Body of Sun (for 3) and then opponent's
hands (for 1) will be enough to zap him.
Anyway, there are already plenty of ways to counter those big strikes. So your
Potence deck strikes for for 12? I just use a Leather Jacket. Fortitude,
Dodges, and S:CE can take care of such large strikes when necessary. Whereas
there's not too much you can do against big bleeds (deflecting is okay until
it's a two-player game, and intercept is a bit harder).
