Hello, all :) I got some trouble in interpreting some cards I saw, and combinig it with some rules. Here goes: - The errata for 'Enchant Kindred' and 'Govern the Unaligned' implies that it can be used on uncontrolled vampires of other Meths. How is this resolved? Is the action directed? Can the other vampire be brought into play by this? If it does, who controls it? At what time is it brought into play? - Mask Of 1000 faces brings a timing problem that I consider quite pertinent; at what time can it be used? Before or after (at the 'increase stealth' phase) the blocker has been chosen? Can it be used in the middle of a fight? Does the vampire that uses the 'Mask' need the discipline(s) necessary to perform the original action? - And what about playing action modifiers after a Form of Mist (sup)? Ca I do that? - The errata states that more than one Pulled Fangs can be stacked per minion. Don't you think this is extremely ridiculous? I mean, unless we're talking about Nosferatus, how many fangs do you think a vampire has?!? :) - I understand the 'Hawg' card as it is makes it very powerful (for a no-pool eq. card). But since it was copied from Jyhad, howcome you didn't correct it??? - Leandro can be quite a pain... if I manage to put him in torpor on this turn can I make my transfers w/o paying the cost, or must I start my turn with Leandro outside the active region in order to make transfers without paying anything? - I understand that some cards are rarer than others. Where can I find a list of the rarity of cards? Are there special places on the boosters where these cards appear (separated from the others by the vampires)? And on the starter decks? Are some vampires rarer than others? Thanks in advance :) David Pontes 8[

The action is not directed, because an action is always either directed or undirected, and cannot change from one or the other based on who the target is (official statement - rendering "Encounter V in Torpor to R/D" to always be undirected (or directed) - in direct opposition to common sense and the rulebook). So, using GtU or EK on an uncontrolled (possibly younger) vampire in another Meth's uncontrolled region is an undirected action, by official pragmatic ruling (violating the concept of directed action). > - Mask Of 1000 faces brings a timing problem that I consider >quite pertinent; at what time can it be used? The Masker does not need the required discipline or Clan - but could not take over an inherent action (such as Muddles' (D) attack, e.g.) that he would otherwise be incapable of. > - And what about playing action modifiers after a Form of Mist (sup)? >Ca I do that? You choose during your untap whether to pay pool or lose transfers. This choice will be in effect regardless of Leandro's readiness at your transfer phase. > - I understand that some cards are rarer than others. Where can I >find a list of the rarity of cards? A card list (with rarities and card text) is maintained by Shane Travis for both Jyhad and Dark Sovereigns (but not VtES). To answer the questions I failed to answer with the first reply: The target vampire is never brought into play soley by one of these undirected actions - self-directed or not. A vampire only moves from the uncontrolled to the ready region at the end of its Methuselah's influence phase (if it has sufficient counters, of course). All of the counters may be gained from such actions, of course, but the vampire must still await its owner's influence phase. Its owning Meth will be the one to control it, as normal. the only effect of the undirected directed instances of GtU/EK is to help another Meth (or do nothing, if the target vampire isn't younger, but who can tell?) Is this, then, an extremely silly way of determining the age of an uncontrolled vampire or your prey? And how does it work? You target a vampire (that the action is not "directed" toward, mysteriously) and then, does the player whose uncontrolled region the vampire is in say "OK, he is younger." or "Nope, you can't put the blood on"? Do you then get to pick another vampire? The (Jyhad) card isn't targeting a vampire, but rather gives the instruction "Put X blood on a younger uncontrolled vampire." It seems that you are not allowed to pick a younger vampire, period. I find it hard to get a fizzle effect out of this wording. If this is the case, then do you sit there and point at vampires until a player confirms that one of them is younger than the acting vampire? This is clearly getting silly. LSJ? Tom? Did this make any sense? gnfnrf

And there isn't errata against stacking Fangs on a vampire, anyway. Tom Wylie rec.games.trading-cards.* Network Representative for aa...@cats.ucsc.edu Wizards of the Coast, Inc.

This is a silly and inane use of GtU/EK. The only reason to try this on another Meth is to cycle cards. If the deck you are using is so full of them that they end up bogging down your hand, you should seriously redo your deck. I am tired of seeing people come up with unrealistic ways to use a card to get it out of their hand. The whole idea of the game is to make a deck that is functional even at the worst of times. Just because a game is looking grim does not mean you should break the spirit of the game by coming up with degenerate ways to use cards to get them cycled on through so you can find the one card you do need. The best suggestion I have is to spend time making good decks instead of wasting time patching broken ones. CK

If inactive vampires don't qualify at all, Trix should be well below the errata threshhold. [ quoted text not captured ]
