[LSJ] Primal Instincts Question

I assume the following is true: My Matthias is in combat with a vampire with dementation. I strike hands at close range, the opposing minion strikes Coma. I then play Primal Instincts at superior and strike with Anesthetic Touch at superior Obeah. They still burn the blood for the strike they have chosen, but their strike is ineffective as I have ended combat before their strike could resolve. Please let me know if this is not the way Primal Instincts/Anesthetic Touch combines.
