Is there anyone who have succeded in building a Baali-deck that is
playable? With playable i mean that there isnt a better clan which can
do the same thing.
I have thoughts about ignoring the infernal rule as a houserule...
Anyone with ideas what to do with this sucky bloodline?

Yes.
Derek Ray has 1 or 2 that run fairly well.

No such thing.
The Baali are designed as a self-handicapping feature for players that
feel they need that little something extra to challenge them against
either their regular playgroup or their local tournament scene.

And disregard the self-handicap? Why not just build your own vampires
and play with them?

It's good that you clarified as I wouldn't use the word "playable".
"Worthwhile" or something to describe what you are after.

Build strange decks. Then, convince everyone that your deck sucks so they
don't screw with you (much). Lots of games are won on table politics.

I haven't played the Baali much myself, but Josh Duffin is known for his
crazy Huitzo with a Soul Gem Calls the Great Beast Decks. They actually
have a decent chance at ousting provided that the Great Beast is at home
when you call him. Not only that, but the fact that you can choose the
disciplines of the great beast allows you to experiment with discipline
combinations that you wouldn't otherwise see. The only problem there is
that generally you want to give the GB disciplines that Huitzo already has,
otherwise your GB is doing all the work and Huitzo (once you get another
copy of him via Soul Gem) can't use all of those neat cards in your hand.

I found the Baali, very challenging to work with, but after a coupla
attempts, I began to relish the look on peoples faces as Hui hits the
table. I mean the Condemnations are mostly fun, and Contagion is
downright evil, the combat cards are sadisticn and overall, the Baali
provide a necessary (and welcome) respite from the same old humdrum
decks. While I only have 50-60%win factor with them, I look forward to
expending upon the Infernal Clan.

As such, are to be played with the greatest of caution and enjoyment.
Sides their Condemnations are permanent unless you replace them, thats
just too much fun. :)

Well, in our local playgroup, I must asure that Damnans is really in love
with this clan. Until now, he has built about 5 decks around baalis, and 2
of them had had some kind of success. Basically, a heavy bleeder with gioto,
angra, maria and small caps with dom, and a heavy load (13-15) of
Comdemnation:Betrayed which he plays on his predator. When almost all of his
predator's vamps got one, he continues playing them on his grand-predator,
and so forth. A few deflections, 8 blood dolls, 10 social charms and stealth
enough (earns pool to untap them next turn). His idea with this deck is that
with Com:Betrayed, he slows down his predator and deplets their library, so
if he manages to eliminate his prey and grand prey the last players face
almost none opposition. Has won a few games.
The other one is plainly a headache to built up. It's objective is to erase
the full library of any other player with a simple combat with that player.
Huiztlipochtli equips with sargon fragment, a concordance, a meat hook and
an ex-nihilo. Plays a storm sewers in play. Performs an action eager to be
blocked tapping storm sewers.(mind-rape, for instance) then plays thoughts
betrayed and fear of the void below and starts hitting for 0 with his meat
hook, pressing until opponent looses all the cards in his deck and hand.
Obviously, he had never achieved it objective, there is allways a vamp with
pot on the table that successfully breaks his meat hook, or a direct at any
of the 16 given cards, or whatever.=P
After seeing a few games with this deck, i have no doubt that the infernal
cost is worth. Their cards are thrilling.
He also has built an assamite deck with Call of GB.
Yes, you can asure he is as plainly insane as his favorite clan

One player in my group came up with this idea, not sure if Damnans
thought the same or took it from my comments in this ng.
'Our' version included Cailean for the range setting. You'd have to give
him DAI using combinations of Vials of Elder Vitae and Sanguine
Instruction, but it would get around the 'need to block', and mostly
avoid POT and S:CE because you could just rush (at stealth) some weak
minion who didn't have POT and couldn't S:CE. He'd use small minions for
the equip/SI actions so that the set up could be done reasonably fast,
but he'd be vulnerable to agg damage (no Concordance).
He did manage to set the combo off a couple of times, but I wasn't there
to see it.

Ahem!. I think you have forgotten 2 of my decks ;-)
One of them is a Baali deck based on Huitzilopochtli, The Unblockable, and Le
Dinh Tho. Huitzilopochtli bleeds with a Legal Manipulations, also declaring a
Seduction and a Sleeping Mind. If there is a minion attempting to block, you
play Psychomachia; and if there is still another minion attempting to block, you
play superior Elder Impersonation. The deck also has a bit of stealth, just in
case. When nobody blocks, Huitzilopochtli plays Sense the Sin at superior. I
play with a couple of Pulse of the Canaille, The Coven, Blood Dolls, Obediences,
Deflections, and low capacity vampires with AUS and obf, or AUS and dom.
The other Baali deck you forgot is my "DIE IN A SINGLE TURN".
This deck's crypt consists of low capacity vampires with Vicissitude, plus
Giotto Verducci and Mary the Black. Bring out the youngsters, Uriah Winter, and
one Baali. The Baali plays Condemnation: Doomed on a vampire controlled by your
prey with a capacity as low as possible (otherwise, your Uriah Winter could be a
suitable target, should he become controlled by your prey). Your youngsters with
Vicissitude should play Atonements and other permanent intercept cards. And you
should play a Vampiric Disease on the Doomed vampire. Once that vampire is empty
and has to hunt, your prey is Doomed, since you block him or her with your
youngsters with Atonements. Combat occurs and you play Meld with the Land at
inferior in order to untap de Doomed and Diseased vampire. According to the new
CE rules, that vampire must hunt again, so you attempt to block him or her again
and again, untapping him or her with MwtL over and over again until your prey is
ousted due to the pool loss caused by Condemnation: Doomed's superior effect.
This deck can also be improved with Fame, Society of Leopold, etc.
The Baali is the best clan ever >:-)

And, of course, Wouter slotted 3 of my Huitzi's in his anson-anarch
revolt deck last weekend... but that doesn't make it a baali deck.
(I'll leave it to him whether he wants to describe it in detail)

Sure--lots of folks. Are they going to dominate the tournament scene or
anything? Probably not, but they are playable as a clan and can mix in with
other clans pretty well too. Yeah, the vampires all cost a pool a turn, more
or less, but they are all very efficient vampires with powerful special
abilities, and their pitchfork discipline has a lot of good stuff going on
about it.
> With playable i mean that there isnt a better clan which can

Not really. Yeah, they share two disciplines with the Settites (Obf and
Pre), but Daimionion or whatever it is called has some very powerful cards.
The basic, no brainer Baali deck is the presence S+B deck, using Legal
Manipulations at superior to pay for the Baali disadvantage, and then using
a few pitchfork cards (like the one that sets combat to long range as a
default and the one that does ranged aggrivated damage) to deter ot survive
combat (from being blocked or rushed). Adjust to taste.

I make funny decks involving Heralds of Topeth. My current deck is basically
Weenie presence bleed with Mary the Black and Heralds as Rush and Kill to
make the bleeding easier. And to Rush the predators that could kill me.
The deck has a tendency to kill itself if I don't oust my first prey
quickly. Losing 3 per turn is hard to handle.
Anyway, comments welcome, except for 'Just play weenie presence its much
more effective.' I already know that.

Q: How do storm sewers and fear of the void interact? Do they cancel
each other out? Which takes precendence (one defaults to close range,
another to long range)?

First one played/used wins out. That, in this case, is Storm Sewers.

No. I thought the same together with The Nosferatu Stuff. We came up with this
idea last year.

"Our" deck was primarily based on Cailean as well, who learned superior Daimoinon
via Clan Impersonation (Tremere Antitribu) and Infernal Pact, a much more "easy"
way than using Vials of Elder Vitae and Sanguine Instructions.

Hey, great minds think alike ;)
I can't remember when he thought of it (I could look through Google for
the posts, but I'm too lazy), though I'm sure he came up with the basic
idea by himself. I helped with the setup and tuning.

I think we went with the SI+Vials because you also have to give him Nec
for the Ex-Nihilo, and then you can't use another Infernal Pact. With
Vials you can give Cailean Nec if necessary (ie, you fail to draw any
Nec masters).
And having some small minions around can be very usefull (Blood Dolls, etc)

Also, don't forget that Storm Sewers actually sets range whereas Fear of the
Void Below just changes the default (and doesn't actually set range).
