Hi! Some time ago (11.18.1996) I posted some questions in this NG: [snip] > even a FIRST STRIKE can be dodged without > playing a First Strike for the dodge. Sounds a little bit crazy, > > because Celerity is used to hit the opponnent _before his strike > occurs_. How shall it be possible to dodge this strike with a > "normal" dodge? Noted for the next Rules Meeting. [snip] The Last sentence was, of cause, from J.Wilkie. Well, I am _still_ waiting for an answer. And how about a "Strike: Combat Ends" vs "First Strike" ? In my opinion, the combat starts. The minions choose range. Then the First Strike is played AND RESOLVED. Then - if both combatants are still capable to fight - the other minion can play his strike, e.g. "Combat Ends". Otherwise the following would happen: The opponent gets the strike, decides not to fight and - due to his decision- I had never had the chance to hit him ?!? So please, LSJ, enlight me... MRD

AFAIK, this was never in dispute. Dodge and S:CE both beat First Strike. As counter-intuitive as this seems, thems the rules. James -- James E. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender." -- G'Kar, Babylon 5: "Z'ha'dum"

Any strike done with First Strike 4. Any other strike > And how about a "Strike: Combat Ends" vs "First Strike" ? If the timing is still a problem, treat all S:CE and S: Dodge as if they all had "First Strike" errata. -- L.
