This situation has come up in a JOL game. Cooper has Rise of the Nephtali in play. Danny Larkshill takes the action to become Liaison, which is currently held by a younger vampire. Ta da, Danny is Liaison. Then Cooper is ousted, removing Rise of the Nephtali from the game. What happens to Danny's title? A) He retains it and the associated 4 votes forever, since no one else can take the action to steal it. B) He retains it, but it's worth no votes. (Like Anneke when the Camarilla has fallen.) C) It goes away, since no effect in play defines the title of Liaison any longer. D) Something else I haven't thought of. I don't think there's any practical difference between B & C, but they seem like slightly different outcomes, so maybe it's worth considering the two possibilities. If D, pls explain the "something else." :) I'm thinking (C) but would appreciate confirmation. TIA, Pat

I believe this is the answer. The event card defines the action. But the action creates a permanent cardless effect and says nothing about requiring the event card to be in play in order to continue to exist. In theory you could play the RotN, take the Laison title, and use one of your Black Hand vampires to burn the RotN with Black Hand Ritual, thus securing the title permanently. For what it's worth. [ quoted text not captured ] I would say that X defaults to 0. You would gain 0 pool. What newsreader are you using? [ quoted text not captured ]

Correct. -- That is my story, be it bitter or be it sweet. Keep a little and let a little come back to me. That's great. I got some funny deckplans. But for normal playing isnt that a bit annoying? I mean, then we have to remember how much x was, just because Khobar could hit the table? W

I'm still trying to understand why that's the case, since no card in play defines the title any more. I guess it's comparable to how Praxes and Crusades work, where you don't technically put the card on the vampire, they just get the tile, even though the card's now in an ash heap. - Pat

There's a parallel cards not in play still defining what they defined - Sabbat Threat and Vampiric Disease. http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/msg/b9fc15f cf4a42d62 Now, these use counters, but the title has been given and nothing has taken it away, so you could reasonably extend the ruling that a defined title is still defined even when the defining card isn't there. -- James Coupe PGP Key: 0x5D623D5D YOU ARE IN ERROR.
