OK, Wynn is in combat with Didi Meyers. Didi plays Blur, granting her an additional strike. Wynn plays Claws of the Dead, granting him aggravated hand damage. No strikes are dodged or prevented. Does Didi go to torpor before or after her additional strike is resolved? -- mal...@macatawa.org Peter Lowe +=+=+ Edmonton, AB VtES web page available soon!

The short answer is no. Additional Strike cards are not actually played until after strike resolution and damage prevention, so Didi would not have had the chance to play the Blur, as she was sent to torpor before she had the chance to play it. For the long answer, here is a fairly detailed rundown of how a combat round works: 1. Before combat. --(play before combat cards like Thoughts Betrayed or Obedience) 2. Combat begins. --(play cards that are played before manuvers, like Torn Signpost, Trap, Fists of Death) 3. Manuver and counter manuver, starting with acting minion. --(play Immortal Grapple after manuvers are done) 4. Declare strikes, starting with acting minion. --(after both strikes are declared is the last point to declare use of Wolf Claws/CotD) 5. Resolve strikes. --(apply damage) ---(prevent damage) ----(end combat if either minion is torporized or burned) 6. Play Additional Strike cards. --(Repeat steps 3, 4, 5 for each extra strike. If only one minion has extra strikes, it will be the only one doing anything, but the victim may still prevent damage) 7. Press and counter press, starting with acting minion. --(End combat if no one presses, or if all presses to continue are countered with presses to end) 8. Begin second (or third...) combat round. Repeat steps 2-8 until combat ends (due to a minion being burned/torporized or no one sucsessfully pressing in step 7) I may have left something out, but not that I can think of. I hope this helps. I'm afraid I must bear the burden of correcting you :-) Yes, Didi goes to Torpor during strike resolution, but there is a strike resolution phase _after every strike_, not just at the end of the round. After _each_ strike, you apply damage, prevent damage, and then check to see if your minion is in torpor or burned. If someone is burned or goes to torpor, combat ends imediately. If not, then you may play an aditional strike card and make aditional strikes. Say Don Cruez is in a fight with Lucia Paciola. After they both declare their strikes for the first strike phase (they both use hand strikes) Don declares the use of Wolf Claws, making his hand damage aggrivated. After the first strike (Don hits for 1 aggro, Lucia hits for 2 regular), if Lucia does not prevent any damage, Don sucsessfully pokes her in the eye, and she goes to Torpor. If she does prevent damage, Don could then play Blur for 2 additional strikes. Again, assuming that Lucia does not also play Blur (or any other aditional strike card), she will just stand around while Don hits her with his first aditional strike for 1 aggro (Wolf Claws last until end of round). If she prevents damage, again, she will not go to Torpor and Don will get his third strike. If she does not prevent the damage, she will go to Torpor, combat will end, and Don will lose his third strike. During additional strikes, if Minion A gets aditional strikes and Minion B does not get aditional strikes, then Minion B will just stand around while Minion A pounds on them. Minion B may prevent damage for each strike if possible, but they may not Dodge or try to manuver to long range, or do anything but stand around, take abuse, and prevent damage. If Minion A declares the use of an aditional strike card, like Blur, then Minion B may also declare the use of Blur (assuming that Mininon A is the acting minion who must chose to use additional strikes first), and then Dodge on each of those additional strikes if needed. Without the additional strikes, though, a minion may not dodge additional strikes that are going to hit them. Annouce strikes (pay any cost) [none so far in the example] Resolve strikes (pay cost) [Wynn now pays one to aggravate his hand strike] -- At this point, Didi is in Torpor, and combat ends. -- Had this not ben the case (she prevents it somehow), combat continues: Gain additional strikes (pay cost).
