I did a search for this, but couldn't find anything. Actually, I suppose this could apply to almost all cards. Veil of Darkness is in play. My first discipline card is either a reaction or action mod. I show a Master and this card fails. Can I play the same one again if I have another copy in my hand (I assume no, but would like to check). If a reaction would tap this reacting minion, would I be tapped? I assume no as this is part of the resolution of the card. In terms of an action. Would you be tapped? If not, would you be able to play another copy of the same action card again (again, I assume no). If yes, could you play a Superior Freak Drive to untap as the action was unsuccessful. Cheers Andy

Correct.

How come the action card doesn't count as being played by the minion? Or is it that a minion can't attempt the action twice, and in this case, he never attempted/performed the action, and so therefore can again? Andy

No Repeat Actions kicks in at resolution (successful or otherwise). The same minion can initiate the same action with the same card several times a turn, so long as he doesn't allow the action to resolve whilst he's acting. The usual way to manage this is with Mask of a Thousand Faces, or a similar action mover, but there are other ways. Sheldon bleeds with Computer Hacking. Selma Masks. Selma bleeds, and is tainted against taking any more bleed actions and any more Computer Hacking actions. Sheldon now bleeds again, and can play Computer Hacking if he wants to, because he hasn't performed a Computer Hacking action this turn - the previous attempt was performed by Selma. -- James Coupe PGP Key: 0x5D623D5D YOU ARE IN ERROR. [ quoted text not captured ] Although it's moot for this situation, as stated above, it's worth noting that superior Freak Drive is only usable when blocked. If your action is unsuccessful for some reason other than being blocked, you can't play it. -- salem http://users.tpg.com.au/adsltqna/vtes/ (replace 'hotmail' with 'yahoo' to email)

Is this covered in the rulebook, so I can refer to it? Questions like this pop up once in a while, and is always hard to explain to newbies. And others :)

And others :) The rule is given in the rulebook, yes. The prohibition against action-card actions is http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/rulebook/rulebook.html#sec6_1_6 "A minion cannot perform an action with the same action card or via the same card in play (including from the minion's own card text) more than once each turn, even if he untaps." (Note that the restriction is based on performing the action, not playing the action card.) The prohibition on reaction cards and action modifiers is http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/rulebook/rulebook.html#sec1_6_3 "A minion cannot play the same action modifier more than once during a single action." and "A minion cannot play the same reaction card more than once during a single action." (Note that the restriction is based on playing tha card.)
