How does Ankara citadel work with Eldest Command? Normally Ankara halves the cost of any cards and I've always just assumed that it worked with any of the X - cost cards. Does it mean you can spend 6 blood to burn an 11-cap? Ankara Citadel, Turkey, The, Equipment, 2 pool, Tremere, U5 , [AH:U5, CE:U] This equipment card represents a unique location and does not count as equipment while in play. The vampire with this location pays only half of the blood cost for any cards he or she plays (round down). Eldest Command Undeath, The, Political Action, X blood, Laibon, R , [LoB] Political Card - Worth 1 Vote. Called by any Laibon as a +1 stealth action. Choose a vampire controlled by your prey with capacity less than X. Succesful referendum means that vampire is burned. This acting vampire cannot gain blood this action. Any blood he or she gains goes to the blood bank instead.

[ quoted text not captured ] My point was actually 'please quote the parts of the post you are replying to, for ease of reading and to provide context.' But thanks, though. [ quoted text not captured ]

I understood your point. :) Some people who read this newgroup use Google groups. These people can understand the context of one-liner posts and don't need long quoted replies. Other people who read this newsgroup don't use Google groups. They are frequently baffled by one-liner posts because those posts arrive out of context, and they need fully quoted replies. This group of people regularly educates the Google users on proper netiquette. The education comes in a variety of forms, from a sarcastic question to a polite and straightforward request. I guess my point is that netiquette is dynamic, not static. When I see people complaining about lack of context for posts, instead of berating the poster, perhaps the reader is the one who should consider change? Ira

When I see >people complaining about lack of context for posts, instead of berating >the poster, perhaps the reader is the one who should consider change? Google tell you it's good netiquette to summarise postings when using Google Groups! http://groups.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12348&query=quote& topic=0&type=f What's good 'netiquette' when posting to Usenet? The Do's and Don'ts of Posting on Google Groups [...] Summarize what you're following up. When you click "Reply" under "show options" to follow up an existing article, Google Groups includes the full article in quotes, with the cursor at the top of the article. Tempting though it is to just start typing your message, please STOP and do two things first. Look at the quoted text and remove parts that are irrelevant. Then, go to the BOTTOM of the article and start typing there. Doing this makes it much easier for your readers to get through your post. They'll have a reminder of the relevant text before your comment, but won't have to re-read the entire article. And if your reply appears on a site before the original article does, they'll get the gist of what you're talking about. Why do people using Google Groups know more about how to use it than Google do themselves? Also consider that some people - such as LSJ - have to read a LOT of posts, particularly when they go away for a few days and have to come back. The Google Groups interface is horrendously bad for reading lots of posts compared to a proper news-reader, which makes following things much more hard work. So why should they have to put in more effort because other people can't be bothered to spend the three extra seconds it takes to quote a post and delete the irrelevant portions? Also, however, many people posting context-less Google Groups posts operate under the shared delusion that you can just click on the previous post and find out what the context was. This is wrong. Completely wrong. Google make it pretty easy for anyone to have their posts excluded from the archive, and plenty of people take advantage of this. What use is the one line response "Yes, that's right" when the original question isn't there anymore? Hey, I know, if the question had been quoted so that we had context, nothing can go wrong! Now there's a thought. Posting contextless posts is just plain dumb. It ignores what Google ask people to do. It makes getting answers to your posts harder. And it doesn't work like people have apparently convinced themselves it does. Why change to a demonstrably less helpful, less useful system? -- James Coupe PGP Key: 0x5D623D5D YOU ARE IN ERROR.
