We had 17 players at the Columbia Prerelease (apparently some make-up college
football game in NC kept many players away).
While we didn't keep score, it probably bears noting that a Lasombra/Kiasyd
deck swept its table in each of the three rounds.
The 40/40 format went well - the players were generally able to draft almost 20
library cards to match their crypt choices - and the "left-over" slots of those
20 were usually filled with "burn option" cards (which make great fillers, since
they don't clog your hand). I ended up with, I think, 2 non-burn-option
unusable cards in my deck (that had to be discarded the old-fashioned way).
I ended up playing a Ventrue-Daughters deck (with only 2 Daughters) that I
padded with Harbingers of Skulls (two HoS - Egothha and Agaitas).
In the first game, I got nothing but Ventrue out (all four of my tiniest
vampires, which was nice). Had my prey down to 2 pool before being ousted
and then saved by Life Boon and then pulled across the table by Dramatic
Upheaval by David Tatu, who ousted me and my former 2-pool prey for 2VPs
before hitting the wall and coming up with a tie with Conor.
In the second game, I got one of my Daughters out. And Courtland with a
Flak Jacket and Poker (a cold iron weapon) kept my grand predator (with
a Kiasyd) at bay after he ousted my predator while I went on to get my
four VPs.
In the final game, I got my 2 HoS out (Agaitas first, followed on the next
turn by the Slaughterhouse - causing my prey much consternation). I was
the first one ousted on that table. My prey stole the Slaughterhouse just
before I was ousted (and after he had lost some dozen or twenty cards to it
and Agaitas and Egothha).
