Hi everyone, O.K., it looks like we are ready to start an on-line game. We currently have four players, we could have another player or two if they still want to get in. We will be playing here on the newsgroup, I posted twice to ask if anyone objected to this, and recieved no negative responses so I assume you don't mind. The Subject: of the messages will be "Jyhad on-line" so it will be easy to skip if you are not interested. We intend to use the Jyhad rules as they stand at the moment, and I have asked James McClure and Scott Johnson to keep us honest. Since the on-line format isn't exactly ideal for a card game, we have decided on a few simple rules to keep things in order: 1) At the start of a players turn, that player will make a comprehensive posting of his condition: ie. I have Anvil ready with two blood and a flack jacket, Normal is in torpor paralyzed with one blood, there is 8 in my pool and I have two on short term investment. 2) When a player declares an action for a minion, she must wait until her prey & predator post that they are not blocking, or 24 hours have gone by since the post, then may continue with the action. Weekends are sacred, the 24 hour clock stops at midnight Friday and starts again at midnight Sunday. Play can continue over the weekend if people respond: ie. I'm not blocking. 3) Votes will work like blocks, the vote passes or fails after 24 hours without any more being cast, or when all players say they are not casting any more votes. Our current list of players includes: Errol Trepanier James E. Lin Khain Algustas Alright then, lets go until Tuesday for questions / new players, maximum six players please, then lets have Errol determine a random seating order, after that is posted, lets have James randomly determine who starts the game, and lets play some Jyhad. Hi everyone, O.K., thats it. We are full already! Thanks for all the responses. Here is a list of the players, the first six to respond: Algustas (of course) Errol Trepanier James e. Lin Khain Cory (or Kingo, I don't know which he uses) Nixel These are the six methuselahs in our game. I posted some proposed guidelines for how to do turns, time limits, etc. I've gotten some pretty good feedback from Errol, I'm not well versed on the internet, so I didn't understand all of it, but now is the time to discuss it. Anyone have anything they want to add/change to my proposed rules? L. Scott Johnson and James R. McClure will be monitoring our game for us, to keep us from straying to far from the rules. I propose we have Errol set a random seating order on Wed., then James randomly determine who starts. If we are still hashing out rules on Wed. we should of course wait a bit... Since there are six of us, we can start building our decks. 40 card min. 100 card max. Do we want to use any house rules (ie. use rotschreck as written instead of as ruled, Blood Rage is a Thaumaturgy card, no vote pushing or one vote push, etc.) I don't think I'll request any until I here what you guys think. Few questions still unanswered: 1. Any card limit of a kind? (i.e. 20 short term investment) 2. Misprint cards should be corrected, but what about cards like Tasha Morgan? 3. Do we add the new variant rules of Vam:TES or stick with the original? 4. Respond time? 5. I got the universal format down, but I think we should do it this way: First, the active methuselah group mail everyone his/her movies Second, wait for prey/predator/other methuselah to respond Third, modify the universal format with updates Last, write the whole modification of this turn on the top of the format. What do you all think? --jAMES, second gen. Tremere/Malkavian---

[ quoted text not captured ] Hi James, 1) I am opposed to card limits, I would love to have a prey with 20 short term investments cluttering up his hands, he can only play one a turn. The only card I am really concearned about is Freak Drive, but I hate to impose the dreaded card limit.... 2)Umm, whats wrong with Tasha Morgan? Is there a misprint of her? 3)I say stick with the basics, no variants. 4)Well, I posted my opinions on time limits. 5) I like the format you E-mailed me, but I still think we should have a chance to respond or not respond to each individual action. I know this will make the game go slowly, but I think it's the only way to keep the feel of the game. Well, my thoughts anyway. Actually, I wondered what everyone thought about vote pushing? I'm not sure I have a definate opinion, but we should discuss it. Algustas *****Politics is not an exact science***** Otto Von Bismark

Tremere/Malkavian--- Hello, here is my opinion on james questions. 1) I hate card limits, but please no KRC DECKS 2) Whats wrong with Tasha 3) Lets stick with the original version 4) I agree with the 24hr deadline, this includeds all meths not just predator or prey. If we want this game to ever finish we have to pay attention and respond asap. -- Have you gotten sick and tired of AT&T taking credit for things they haven't invented yet, you will!! Lets resolve this by vote (hopefully in the next 24 hours...) We are voteing on response time, I say 24 hours per action, then on to the next. James and Corey say a whole turn in 24 hours. Lets all log in our votes then start the game. If you have anything else that you want resolved propose it as a vote. If we get a vote from everyone without any new votes requested then Khain can start his turn. I vote for 24 hours / action.

I feel that if your going no restriction you go all the way even KRC. My 2 Sense. Errol

Tremere/Malkavian--- I like the universal format you came up with. Also if you want to put in 10 fames go ahead. It is been errated to a unique master so only one can be in play at a time without contesting it. As for earl and his KRC go ahead but I quarantee my Gangrel will a be a hunting you if you do. I find that in a game like jyhad with 100+ card decks 8 is a good limit.

DISCLAIMER: I am not in the Game. However, until recently I was under the impression that the game would require prey to post - no block predator to post - no block action successfgul - modifier - resolution The only problems here are Eagles sight, Mariel tapping, that sort of thing. I suggest highly that those unusual occurances be broadcast a little mor than they normally would. Such as - I am NOT VOTING in this political action. I am not usual Mariel for any of (insert meth/vamp name here)'s combats I will not block anything out of turn, until I feel like revoking this statement. This leads to interesting tactics of bluffing such as notifying all players to inform me of all actions in case I want to block, even out of turn. So do I have an Eagle's sight or not? hmm do you want to bet on it. Players may feel that they are sacrificing som e of their rights, however, speed will be neccessary in order to keep the game moving. In other words if I play a S&B deck, I am playing a one dimensional deck. My prey should never be able to get in a block if I have designed it correctly (unless he's really intercept driven) so I will cheerfully let everone know that I am not voting in any Pol Action unless I have the edge and need to burn it to avoid loss of pool. I will also not block a damn thing that is at stealth or unless it is against me. I would be giving away good information to others, but I would also speed the game while not affecting how my cards play. $0.02 used, please depoisit more money. Hi Methuselahs, O.K., I must not have made myself clear on my last posting, we have an issue to resolve before we start the game. The issue is how long do we wait for someone to block an action before we proceed. I have proposed that we wait until predator & prey say I'm blocking / not blocking or 24 hours, whichever comes first. A couple of you have suggested that we just post all our actions and see who blocks what. I really don't like this suggestion, but since two players asked for it I think we should vote on it. As soon as everyone logs in a vote we will start the game. Vote for version A or version B. version A: pred/prey says no block or block, or 24 hours pass, then continue. version B: Post all actions at once and see who blocks what. I vote for version A. Algustas *****Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.***** H.L. Mencken

Cory I. Kanahele

I vote for version A but everyone needs to respond to each action ASAP or we will never get anywhere. Version B would be nice but then it would get complicated with wakes, majesties, freak drives, etc.. [ quoted text not captured ]

Someone please give me the list of all 6 players (including me) and their e-mail address so I can send them the format. Thanks. I've been shuffling my deck and testing it out for the past few days......*yawn* :^[

Sorry about the lack of response guys, i've been to the big GENCON. version a sounds great, giving everyone 24 hrs to respond is perfect. Just to satisfy a dumb question, this will start as a standard game with with my first turn start with one blood in the transfer phase, correct? Well, as the time gets closer, has anyone actually purchased any of the new eternal struggle cards, and if so, are these new cards allowed? Until my Methusalah beats up your Methusalah khain

We're starting the game tonight at midnight anyways. Glad you came back on time. I seem to have trouble mailing stuff to AOL accounts, and I still don't understand why. I'll try to mail you the format and certain rules and we'll get started. I haven't heard from anyone else yet about questions regarding this online game. I'll let you know what's up. And yes, we are trying to follow the rule by the bible, so the first person will only get 1 transfer. >Well, as the time gets closer, has anyone actually purchased any of the >new eternal struggle cards, and if so, are these new cards allowed? I didn't know V:TES and DS are out on market already!!!! Can anyone tell me if it's true? I'm gonna check out the DS ones, and forget the V:TES ones for I can buy Jyhad a lot cheaper. I don't know if new cards (DS) are allowed for almost no one know the cards. So I assume we'll be only using Jyhad, but since V:TES is suppose to be same but the cardback, you can use those in your deck, just not the DS ones where new clans and new disciplines have evolved... >Until my Methusalah beats up your Methusalah Hmm..that would take forever.
