Hello LSJ, Assume Player A has no reasonable chances of getting any more VPs. If Player A has 4 pool and plays Temptation of Greater Power, may Player A bid 7 pool (or any number of pool greater than his total pool +5) ? If that's allowed and he does so, and he wins the bid, does control of the vampire change? Thanks, Ira Name: Temptation of Greater Power [Jyhad:R, VTES:R, CE:R] Cardtype: Master Cost: 3 pool Master. Requires a ready justicar. Choose a vampire. Methuselahs may bid pool for control of that vampire. The winning bid is paid to the blood bank. Methuselahs may be credited up to 5 pool on the bid: winner pays 1 pool toward his or her debt during his or her discard phase until the debt is repaid. Only 1 Temptation of Greater Power can be played in a game.

He could bid 6 pool (his remaining 1 pool after paying the cost of ToGP plus 5 on credit). If he does so, and he wins the bid, control changes. Card text. [ quoted text not captured ]

Isnt it just relevant whether he thinks he has a way of poolgaining during the same turn or not, before he has to pay his last pool. If he has no option, then its obviously suiciding (I guess the "interest" you pay on the card could be considered part of the cost, and you cant play a mastercard where the cost of it kills you). If I had 4 pool, a temptation of greater power, an enchant kindred and the possibility of stealing a minion with PRE, then I would be a bit perplexed if a judge told me I couldnt do it, because I might not get any more VPs. > > > If Player A has 4 pool and plays Temptation of Greater Power, may > > Player A bid 7 pool (or any number of pool greater than his total pool > > +5) ? Spending his last pool "kills him". > Isnt it just relevant whether he thinks he has a way of poolgaining > during the same turn or not, before he has to pay his last pool. If he > has no option, then its obviously suiciding (I guess the "interest" > you pay on the card could be considered part of the cost, and you cant > play a mastercard where the cost of it kills you). The interest isn't part of the cost that kills him right now. He has X pool left and spends all X of it right now, leaving him with 0 pool right now (and therefore ousted). All of that in addition to the debt of 5 pool he incurs. > If I had 4 pool, a temptation of greater power, an enchant kindred and > the possibility of stealing a minion with PRE, then I would be a bit > perplexed if a judge told me I couldnt do it, because I might not get > any more VPs. The question is not "can I play it?", but rather "can play it, pay the cost of 3, then bid my remaining 1 plus an additional *6* on credit?" The answer is: no, since you cannot take 6 on credit. The OP may be wondering if the 7 bid could instead have been painted as 5 on credit and 2 pool now (i.e., bidding pool you don't have, since you can be bleed for 2 when you have only 1 pool and see also the rulings on Life Boon "saving" someone in that situation). Then answer to the possibly-implied question is implied in the answer given: no, you can only bid pool you have (plus whatever credit the card allows). Back to your new question: Yes, you can play it when you have 4 pool, since it only costs 3 pool.
