If I understand well the combat rules, I don't see the point of playing cards costing blood like: Skin of Steel 1 blood Prevent all damage from a strike. (S) As above, and prevent all damage from opponent's strikes for the remainder of this round. against, for instance, a celerity (giving additional strikes) deck. If you play this card with greater Fortitude during the damage prevention step of the first combat round then your opponent won't play any additional strike cards, thus keeping them for another combat. Please correct me if I am wrong. Jean-Philippe -- "Half of this game is ninety percent mental" ---Former Philadelphia Phillies manager Danny Ozark

Seems that you have a good understanding of the combat rules. This card is useful if, perhaps, you would rather they keep their additional strike gaining card in their hand rather than use it to send you to torpor. In other (less frequent) cases you could use it after the additional strike gainer was already played (like Acrobatics, which is played during strike declaration) or used (like Vial of Garou Blood, which can be used only "before range"). -- L. Cycling cards is one of the most important things about Jyhad. Saving cards is rarely useful. Skin of Steel is most useful, however, to prevent strikes of more than 1 damage, such as most Potence strikes. You should check out Mark and Judith's Jyhad page, as it has a bunch of strategy articles that you may find useful. I don't have the URL right now, but you can do a search for Jyhad+Langsdorf and that will find it. Or just look for one of Mark's posts on this newsgroup, and it'll probably have his URL. -Chris -----== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==----- http://www.dejanews.com/rg_mkgrp.xp Create Your Own Free Member Forum

Your assumption is of course correct, it would be pointless for your opponent to play any additional Strikes after you have used Skin of Steel at Superior. However, the alternative (not playing Skin of Steel at Superior) means that he is free to use that card, possibly to great effect. So the answer is you play Skin of Steel in order to prevent Damage. Period. Whether your opponent is influenced into saving his additional strikes for later is immaterial. More than likely he will have many others. Fortunately if you design your Fortitude deck correctly you will have many more Skins of Steel aswell. Karl
