If Javier Montoya is equipped with Catacombs does he burn zero blood to rescue a vampire, since his ability and the Catacombs each reduce blood burnt while rescuing by one? If you control a unique card and bring a second copy into play can you immediately burn one copy before they go inactive? ie You have Ignatius in your torpor region and at the end of your influence phase you bring out a new Ignatius, can you burn the one in torpor, so you don't have to wait until your untap phase to stop contesting them? Thanks, ~Matt Strehlow

Yes. Similarly, any vampire with both Humanitas and Catacombs can rescue a vampire from torpor a for zero blood (and at 3 stealth for vampires with the same controller). > If you control a unique card and bring a second copy into play can > you immediately burn one copy before they go inactive? ie You have > Ignatius in your torpor region and at the end of your influence phase > you bring out a new Ignatius, can you burn the one in torpor, so you > don't have to wait until your untap phase to stop contesting them? No. You can only yield during your untap phase. And then, if you yield one, you still have to pay a pool to contest the other. If you don't, then you must yield both. And then you still won't get the one that you paid a pool for back until your next following untap phase. -- LSJ (vte...@wizards.com) V:TES Net.Rep for Wizards of the Coast.
