In "Darkness Unveiled" Q&A section, it says that if you play a mask of a
thousand faces your minion can do something it cannot do in the first
place. A minion with w/o thaumauturgy could take over a cryptic
mission if he plays Mask of a thousand faces, and do actions he/she could
not do in the first place..
My question involves Assamites.
Situation: My vampire sends another vampire to torpor. A
non-assamite attempts diablorize, but is blocked. I play mask of a
thousand faces to change the acting minion to an Assamite (with the text
"so and so cannot diablorize.") What happens?
Does it take over the diablorie, and Assamites finally do
get to diablorize?
I think it would, but I need a second opinion.
Thanx =)

This "clarification" only extends to clan and ability related restrictions.
Restrictions imposed by card text override all.
This would mean that a Giovanni could not "take over" a praxis seizure,
and that an Assamite can't "take over" a diablerie.
This was clarified once when the "Non-camarilla" text appeared, and then
again when the "can not commit diablerie" text appeared.
I'm sure that one of the rulesmongers will be able to give you more

That's not entirely accurate. A vampire cannot use the Mask to take
over an action they are otherwise prohibited from taking (like Assamites'
inability to diablerize). Also, a Masking vampire may not take over any
action which is a minion's special ability (for instance, your
Assamites could not take over the Terrorists' ability to search
your deck for a Bomb). AFAIK, they can take over any other actions.
For instance, your Assamite could take over the Terrorist's action
to burn a location using a Bomb. ...but since the Assamite would not
have the Bomb, the burn would fail.
Note also that action modifiers or effects which modify the acting
minion rather than the action will be cancelled if the action is
subsequently Masked. Likewise, modifiers from equipment or inherent
modifiers from the original acting vampire will be lost if the
action is Masked. (Incl. Laptop, or stealth from Backways.)

So, no, your Assamites cannot diablerize. *However*, the prohibition
against diablerie is inherent to the vampire, not the Assamite
clan. If you create baby Assamites with The Embrace or
3rd Trad: Progeny, or convert one with Clan Impersonation, *those*
Assamites can Mask a diablerie attempt.

From LSJ's archive of rules team rulings:
Mask of 1000 Faces - Action Modifier (ob):
Masking a "leave Torpor" action results in neither Vampire leaving Torpor
and
no blood cost being paid. If the action is blocked, the blocking
minion
cannot commit diablerie, and combat does not result. [RTR]
The Mask cannot be used to allow a vampire to take over an action he is
explicitly prohibited from taking. [RTR]
All action modifiers remain in effect, but inherent modifiers (a minion's
inherent +1 bleed, e.g.) do not. Effects applied to a minion (e.g.,
Backways) also do not carry over to the new (masking) vampire. [RTR]
The Mask may not be used to take over an inherent action - one that could
only
be performed by the acting minion (e.g., Thadius Zho's special action,
or
the Muddled Vampire Hunter's special action). [RTR]
I believe the second ruling applys here, so no, an Assamite would not be
able to diablerize.

Normally, this is the way it works. However, the assamite ban is different.

The ruling is no, it does not, and the action fizzles as a result. Of course,
if it was blocked, that combat still occurs. This ruling takes precedence
over the ruling on Mask; the logic behind this was something along
the lines of "actions which are specific to a particular minion, or which are
impossible for a particular minion cannot be transferred onto an inappropriate
vampire"(i.e. a vamp w/ depravity will have it's employ retainer action fizzle
if it masks in and takes one over).

I don't believe that the minion is allowed to take over the action at all.
The only instance where an action will "fizzle" due to the Mask is if a
ready vampire assumes a "leave torpor" action of a vampire in torpor.
(Also, if a vampire with Pulled Fangs takes over a hunt action - he'll
gain no blood which is very similar to having the action "fizzle" even
though it is still a successful hunt).
If you are denied the action altogether, then you cannot use the Mask to
take it over.

No.
While Mask1K allows you to perform an action that you couldn't normally
do, either though lack of skill or simply being the wrong clan, it will
*not* allow you to take over an action that you are explicitly denied
(like Assamites commiting diablerie, or a vampire with Talbot's Chainsaw
hunting). It also cannot be used to take over an inherent action (so
you couldn't assume the "rush" action of Wynn or Muddles, for example).
