So we got a pretty good turnout of 8 players for the Black Hand prerelease up in Syracuse NY. We played only 2 rounds due to time, but at theend of the day, the winners were: 1st: Nate Hock, !Tremere 4.5 VPs 2nd: Peter Bakija, !Nosferatu 4 VPs 3rd: Paul, !Toreador 3 VPs 4th: Amy !Malk 1.5 VPs The new starters seem pretty balanced. I swept a 4 player table with my !Nosferatu starter (primarily due to Teresita with Shakar and having 2 Fames...), but then got tooled by the !Malkavians in the second game. I'm very pro the new stuff. The new !Nosferatu are freaking awsome--Teresita is amazing; Tarbaby is certainly reasonable with a good portrait; Tock is, well, Tock--I like is weird picture. Advanced Yong Sun is clearly a vampire to build a deck around, but it doesn't seem that they reprinted regular Yong Sun (anyone get one in a booster?) All in all, we were all very pleased with the set, and the tournament ran very well. Thanks to Nate for running the event, and thanks to Altered States in The Great Northern Mall for hosting us! -Peter

The starter was supposed to have a base Yong-Sun instead of the advanced copy. Details of the resolution of this error will follow. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. They had only about enough intercept (even after packing it with all I could from the draft) to survive against the !Malkavians, but Shakar and Beast, plus 5 Ambushes, did the trick. The !Toreador were hardly any danger at all (with an exception for Miller Delmardigan), the !Tremere much more so (by lack of any Immortal Grapples at all). On the whole, I had most profit out of Kendrick during the tournament; Beast's lack of superior Animalism and inability to play action cards was a big hindrance. In the final, my crypt brought up all the big guys (Kendrick, Teresita, Cailean and Calebos), but Cailean's so good... You know, you wait for an Ambush, then play those 3 or 4 Thrown Sewer Lids from your hand. So popular were they, though, that I had to contest both Kendrick and Beast, the latter twice, during the prelimenaries. Ah well, at least the clan has a good starter, and a fun one to play. Kudos to LSJ. I also noted that the !Nossies have excellent standing votes, and with the new Animal Magnetism, I see them doing quite as well as their Camarilla counterparts in the political arena.
