Hi all! Will somebody explains me how that charming lobby finally works? We were playing with last years , but now, it seems that the ruling changed again. thx

[ quoted text not captured ] Last year's hasn't changed: Charming Lobby - Action (pre) * The "next vote" vote to be called is played/named when the action is declared, and is called (by the acting minion) by the resolution of this action. This action is a political action. [RTR 23-JUN-1998] A vampire taps and plays Charming Lobby, announcing that he is calling referendum "name". Then, if successful (unblocked), the named referendum is called (as part of the resolution of the Charming Lobby action). If that referendum passes, then the next referendum successfully called (not blocked) by any Methuselah's vampire will automatically pass. If the Charming Lobby action is blocked, then the referendum is not called and the political action card (if any) defining the referendum is not lost - it is retained in the hand. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) VTES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. I asked a somewhat similar question earlier, and you gave the same reply. So...Charming Lobby HAS been errated somewhere down the line, right? I was looking through some of my cards the other day and although the Jyhad version doesn't specify whose political action automatically passes, the VTES version does state that the next political action that [you, the acting player] calls is passed. So was there any particular reason they changed it? Halcyan 2

Yes. It was last errataed in [RTR 23-JUN-1998]: Charming Lobby: The vote to be called is played/named when the action is declared, and is called (by the acting minion) by the resolution of this action. This action is a political action. > I was > looking through some of my cards the other day and although the Jyhad version > doesn't specify whose political action automatically passes, the VTES version > does state that the next political action that [you, the acting player] calls > is passed. So was there any particular reason they changed it? ? The V:TES text as I have it is: Charming Lobby Presence Action +1 stealth action If this action is successful, and the next vote you call this turn passes, then the next vote thereafter passes automatically. (S) As above, and gain 2 votes for the first vote. Does this not match the printed text? [ quoted text not captured ]

Yes it does, but this text seems to imply that there are three actions taking place. The Jyhad printing is the one that implied two actions and probably makes a better model as it follows the errata more closely. Both the Jyhad version and the V:TES version were ruled (before the errata) to need three actions. It took the 6/23/98 errata (to the V:TES text, since it is the most current) to change that to the current two-action form. The current topic is whether or not the auto-pass referendum is one that "you" call on the current turn or simply the next one called. The previous poster (citation lost, above) indicated that the V:TES text said that the auto-pass referendum was the next one "you" called. Whereas the V:TES card text that I cited (from the WotC spoiler list) does not. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. I was just saying that the Jyhad text was vague enough to be taken either way. > The current topic is whether or not the auto-pass referendum > is one that "you" call on the current turn or simply the next > one called. Ah. I'm a bit muddled this morning. My apologies. Anyway, the printed text on both versions said that the next vote called is passed automatically but never specified that the effect was limited to the player of Charming Lobby. I know that I'm generally not one to advocate text changes, but it may be worth it to issue an exact wording to be used so it clears all this up. [ quoted text not captured ]

Right. And, therefore, it is not limited to that player. > I know that I'm generally not one to > advocate text changes, but it may be worth it to issue an exact wording > to be used so it clears all this up. The wording (as far as the auto-pass vote) is exact: "The next vote {referendum} thereafter passes automatically". [ quoted text not captured ]

But I meant wording that also takes into account the 2 action sequence, instead of the 3 action one. Just wrap everything up in one neat package is all. [ quoted text not captured ]
