Ex Nihilo Type: Action Requires: Necromancy Cost: 1 blood +1 stealth action. [nec] Put this card on this vampire. This vampire gets +1 stealth. Damage he or she inflicts in combat is reduced to 0, and he or she is immune to non-aggravated damage. This vampire cannot gain blood; any blood he or she gains goes to the blood bank instead. During your master phase, this vampire burns 1 blood or is burned. You may burn this card during your untap phase. [NEC] As above, but you may burn this card during any Methuselah's untap phase. Theft of Vitae Type: Combat Requires: Thaumaturgy [tha] Strike: ranged. Steal 1 blood. [THA] Strike: ranged. Steal 2 blood. Ambrogini Giovanni has an EN on hijm. In combat he plays ToV at THA. He does not gain, but the opposing minion does burn 2 blood, correct?

Regardless of the answer, I'd recommend using a Weather Control / Trap combo when playing Ex Nihilo in a necromancy/thaumaturgy deck. It gives better results and is less card intensive than a gazilion Theft of Vitae.

But then since Ambrogino can't gain blood, it is moved to the blood bank instead (card text). from the rulebook: Steal Blood. This effect moves blood counters (or life counters) from the target to the striking minion. This does not count as damage, so the effect cannot be prevented with damage prevention effects. -- salem (replace 'hotmail' with 'gmail' to email)

[ quoted text not captured ] i once run a ex nihilo weathercontrol deck , and the vampire to play is definatly oliver thrace. basic necromany is enough and you need no tech to counter SCE.

[ quoted text not captured ] Hmmm... so Weather Control doesn't count as "Damage he or she inflicts in combat", because it's environmental, right? Haven't realized that. Duh :) //Petri

Blooded Sand

[ quoted text not captured ] Same goes for Carrion crows, DotB.

[ quoted text not captured ] Sry, but what about a minion with EN and a retainer, such as Zombie? The damage from it count as "Damage he or she inflicts in combat"?? Thanks for any reply.

That's environmental damage - it doesn't come from the minion carrying it. Damage from a specific minion in combat is confined to: - strikes - cards that specifically say it's from them (e.g. Twisting the Knife, Pulled Fangs) If you have Ex Nihilo and a damage retainer, the damage retainer is happy to do damage. -- James Coupe PGP Key: 0x5D623D5D YOU ARE IN ERROR.
