Hi all. I hope some of you can shed some light on the following subject. What happens if my ravnos plays Horrid reality and gets a Wooden Stake, strikes with say, lucky blow, and connects. Does the opposing vampire go to torpor *without* the stake, as it is illusionary and leaves play when combat ends. Maybe this is analogous to the Fast hands questions asked a while ago, still the weapon is illusionary but I do not control it.... Thanx in advance. The Stake is burned or reshuffled into your library when combat ends (assuming it's still in play, which it is in this example). -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. Although I imagine that the vampire in question can rescue itself from torpor, as it isn't Staked anymore... right? -- Derek "Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge." - C. He could rescue himself anyhow, if he ever gets untapped. He still doesn't untap, however. Not untapping is a consequence of going to torpor from the more-than-1-damage-stake-strike, and is not dependent on the presence of the stake on the torpored vampire. The vampire gets "staked" from the strike - it is not a property of holding the Stake card in torpor. [ quoted text not captured ]

Oh, dear. Even ruder. *ponder, ponder* The usual problem with Stake is that you can't get enough of them in your deck - even Disguised Weapon/Stake/Lucky Blow is too card-intensive to nail all the vampires out there down. But Horrid Reality only requires four Stakes in your deck. =) [ quoted text not captured ]

I had used a lot of guns with horrid reality before, though this is IMO better, due to the not untapping factor. Darwin, 1871 > Hello Derek, I had worked on a deck that followed the "Stake" mentality and it actually works well, provided it isn't being used constantly. My group absolutely hates it and it surprised Legbiter as well. However, in the Portsmouth environment, I am absolutely positive it would get creamed as it is considered a "focused" deck. It does roll well, however, and so is not a total loss. It's bleed capability is not strong in single bleeds. It makes up in numbers what it lacks in bleed strength. Enjoy! I either could never get the card when I needed it or I would get the card(s) when I didn't need it (them). So, I just opted to work on disabling the minions and eat them when the situation warrents it. The Ritual of the Bitter Rose works wonders. I have had the opportunity to use it several times and it has never failed to not give me a good reason to eat another vampire. I had also worked the deck with Hidden Lurkers, but later dumped them. They were never used, ever. I either never received the card when it was required or had too many clogging my hand. The Ivory Bow is there to do two things, 1) give me torporizing capability, 2) to be able to contest the Ivory Bow if necessary. The Humanitas and Catacombs have really been a God- send. They work too well especially in conjuction with Fame. -- Worry comes from the belief you are powerless. (So get in there and kick some butt!) [ quoted text not captured ]
