Can Shape Mastery be played as a reaction card to cancel a combat card? Ex: Meth-A's Gratiano enters combat with Meth-B's Igo the Hungry. Can I (Meth-C) play Shape Mastery with my untapped Samantha to burn Gratiano's Arms of the Abyss? -- Francois Gombault GPG key: http://hopeless.homelinux.org:2080/~francois/gpg/08A1B422.asc ORGAN TRANSPLANTS ARE BEST LEFT TO THE PROFESSIONALS -- Bart Simpson on chalkboard

No. Reaction cards cannot be played in combat. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. Combat [...] Note: The only minion cards that can be played during combat are combat cards (unless a card states otherwise, of course)." I thought maybe Shape Mastery (and Denial of Aphrodite's Favor) had sufficient card text to allow this. Too bad. -- Francois Gombault GPG key: http://hopeless.homelinux.org:2080/~francois/gpg/08A1B422.asc I WILL NOT EXPOSE THE IGNORANCE OF THE FACULTY -- Bart Simpson on chalkboard

Too bad. If they did then the card text would override the rule. OTOH if they were supposed to be playable in combat they would be combat cards ;) (cf Fata Amria, Reform Body, Swallowed by the Night et alia)
