I was thinking of attending DragonCon this year and wondered what kind of
attendance the Vampire games received in 99. I see that they had a Sabbat
Sealed event and the Dragons Breath tourney and wondered how many people
they got for each. Were there any other side events or games for Vtes? Did
any of the dealers sell any Vampire cards/singles or whatever?

Sabbat Sealed (which was a bring-your-own affair in 1999) attracted
24 players. The Dragons Breath tourney (a regular constructed-deck
tournament) attracted 19 players. There were no other "official" or
scheduled V:TES events in 1999, but, of course, there were many
pick-up games.

Dragon Con rocked!!
Players came from all over the place.
It is a good place to meet some of the people who actually post on this

Card sales availablity was moderate, but present. You had to get to the
dealer's room on the first two days. After that, most everyone had ferreted
out the deals, and all that was left was packs at full retail (yes, even
Sabbat, which was there on day 4).
From what people I know are saying, this year will be larger (extra 3-5
people from Charlotte, extra 2 people from Boston, possibly)... Hope to see
you there

There will almost certainly be a contingent from Los Angeles. Hopefully 3-5
of us will make it out.

The Austin group will likely make a showing, I just don't know how many
people can commit to the trip.
I'm planning on going.

I will try to make it there then. It will be tough since I am also going to
Origins two weeks after that and the wife will be none too happy with me
being gone 8 days in a months time. I might actually split a table with a
friend and let him watch my stuff while I play.

Wow... that's a lot of "V:TES Luminaries" going to DragonCon! This
could be worth the trip!
Where and when is it this year? Atlanta? Web page, please! :)
I'm being seduced to go to GenCon, where I know some of you end up too.
I don't think I can make all of the Cons, but one or two *might* be
possible... :)

Both Dragon*Con and Gen*Con were great fun last year, though Gen*Con
was a little more exhausting...

How many people are going to Origins this year? I will be playing in all the
Vampire events there hopefully. How about GenCon? Which one is better to go
to for Vampire tourneys?

Well, I'm probably going to Origins. Last year, among others, were myself,
Raille, Josh Duffin, and James Hamblin. There were two tournaments, one with
about 16 players and one with about 10, and I ended up running them both (and
playing as well--we had sort of a Judges Triumverate, but it never really
became an issue), as Wizards didn't really have a judge for them. The tournies
were fun, and there were a lot of prizes--everyone got stuff just for showing
up.
There was some sort of sealed/draft event, but I only think about 3 or 4 people
played that (and I wasn't one of them, so I don't really know...)

Ok, well I am pretty sure I will be at DragonCon and Origins this year. I
went to GenCon last year so I wanted to alternate between Origins and GenCon
every year. Going to DragonCon this year is kind of a fluke because I really
didn't plan on going until the other day but I am going to help a friend run
his table and maybe sell a few things. I'm sure I will bring all of my
Vampire singles with me and do some trading/selling at the table when I'm
not playing. I went to DragonCon in 95 and 98 so I usually have lots of fun
but this year will be the first time to play in a Vampire tourney.
