Continue message "ancient mummy :o)" My opinion is for the better use follow: Play temptation on prey's vampire, then play Clan Impersonation on him and change his clan to Setite. If Akhenatem fight with this vampire then Akhenatem hand damage is aggrivated or Akhenatem may do D action and burn this vampire. Number of Temptations and Akhenatems in deck isn't important, because used temptation (on burned vampire) may return from ash heap Akenathem or Dedefra with Whispers from the Dead and burend Akenathem is put into library. Big problem is the Mummy cost and only 3 lives :( Hmmm, yes this combo is very, very bad, but I wish play with Mummys for evrey cost ;) Also, you may try play Seed of Corruption with Kemintiri on "prey's setite" hmmm. maybe. Kerebutu is unpalyable :( I think that the Mummy's cost really high. I would very cool if Hesha had ability to employ mummyies one (or two) less pool :) I'd wellcome any suggestions about using mummies. Not so many suggestions at the moment, hovewer, an interesting one maybe the following: keep in your hand some Compel the Spirit (from Dark Sovereign), until your library will be empty, at that point have an Akhenaten in play or a Kherebutu (or both); have him burned to burn a proper vampire (either a Follower of Set for Akhenaten or a Tremere for Kherebutu), take back the Mummy (for free) from your ash heap with a Superior Compel the Spirit, then again burn another proper Vamp by burning again the Compeled Mummy, then again take it back with another the Superior Compel the Spirit, then again burn a Vamp..and so on until your hand will be reduced to zero. At that point you may Withdraw from the game ending up in glory. It's not a very good or functional strategy, but at least a very original one (providing your actual prey is playing Tremere or Followers of Set). It would work a bit better if you manage to have a very large hand size at the moment you have your library empty (Elder library, Cassandra Magus Prime amd so on). You must have your cript library, else the Mummies had to be reshuffled in your library and the superior Compel could not work. Wait a bit, and you'll find more interesting uses for the Mummies. When either Akhenaten or Kherebutu are burned, they go into your library. Compel the Spirit works on cards in your ash-heap, so cannot be played on either of the vampires. -- James Coupe

The mummies still go into your library, to the best of my knowledge - it simply has no cards in it, but still exists (such that a hypothetical effect "Move 5 cards from your ash-heap to your library" would work even if your library were empty). That way, Compel the Spirit is still unplayable, as the mummies are either in your library, or in your hand, but not in your ash-heap, unless you can discard them there (which makes a somewhat tenuous combo, requiring a player to be playing specific clans, even more tenuous, since you need a discard mechanism in play). If you still think I'm missing something, it would be useful if you would explain your point, rather than just SHOUTING BY USING LOTS OF CAPITAL LETTERS. -- James Coupe

Sorry to burst your bubble, but "discarding" them (as opposed to getting them killed) will violate the requirements of Compel the Spirit, which needs a retainer/ally that "has been burned since your last turn." Since discarded cards aren't considered in play or anything, the mummies would be stuck in the ash heap (unless you use Carlotta or Whispers). Halcyan 2

Sorry about that "maiusc", sometimes my english isn't good. Anyway, i was reading that if Akhnenaten or Kherebutu are burned when your library is empty, you put them in your ash heap, because there's no library at all to shuffle them in. At the moment i can't find the actual thread about that, so i hope LSJ can confirm me in this. No more capital letters, anyway. Best. Aemilianus, Prince of Rome. [ quoted text not captured ]

The empty library exists. Mummies will be returned to it. [SFC 17-SEP-1996]. This can be deduced by considering the parallel with the ash heap: What do you do with your first discard, when your ash heap is empty (i.e., does an empty ash heap exist to receive cards)? -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) VTES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. Ok, got that (and thanks). But the text in Akhenaten or Kherebutu says (if he is burned) "shuffle him in your library". With an empty library i could not satisfy the Mummy card's text, since there are no card in the library to "shuffle" the actual Mummy in. Comments? Again, thanks for the clarifications. Of course you could. Put your card in the empty library. Now shuffle your 1 card, over and over, 'til you gain a reasonably random order. See? The verb "shuffle" does not require a minimum number of cards - just that there be a card. -- Derek Deafness never kept composers from hearing the music. You put the Mummy into the library and shuffle. Shuffling a "deck" of one card is trivial, but doable. Similarly, shuffling a deck of zero cards (after putting the last card from your library onto a new embrace, for example) is not interesting, but still allowed. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. In article <38D66751...@white-wolf.com>, [ quoted text not captured ] > You put the Mummy into the library and shuffle. > Shuffling a "deck" of one card is trivial, but doable. Sorry, but by the term alone i think that it should not be doable. Let me be a stubborn advocate here. If we are speaking about "shuffling", the term alone clearly refers to more than one component to be "shuffled". I can "shuffle" one piece of "something" only if another piece of "something" is at hand, at least in my Italian, maybe in english is different. If it is not, game logic should not change language logic. Then, if i want a burned Mummy to be "shuffled" in an empty library, the actual question is to change the Mummies' text. instead of: "If Akhenaten (or Kherebutu) is burned, shuffle him in your library". i should read: "If Akhenaten (or Kherebutu) is burned, PUT him in your library (reshuffle afterwards)" The difference is small, but i think it would help to take your point. (that i understand well now). Thanks again. Aemilianus, Prince of Rome. [ quoted text not captured ]

Since discarded The point was that if yuo have an empty library, when ou burn the Mummy it will very quickly end up back in yuor hand. If you could then discard it, it would a) have been burned and b) be in the ash-heap. -- James Coupe

No. The one component being shuffled is your library. "Shuffle your library". It means to arrange the cards in your library in a random order - to randomize your library. [DCI 21] With only one card "randomized" into the existing zero cards in your library, the random order is as "random" as pulling a name out of a hat with only one name in it, but that is the best that can be achieved under the circumstances. > I can "shuffle" one piece of "something" only if another piece > of "something" is at hand, at least in my Italian, > maybe in english is different. You can "suffle" ("randomize") a deck of one card. There is only one outcome of such an event, but it is still shuffled. > If it is not, game logic should not change language logic. > Then, if i want a burned Mummy to be "shuffled" in an empty library, > the actual question is to change the Mummies' text. > instead of: > > "If Akhenaten (or Kherebutu) is burned, shuffle him in your library". > > it should read: > > "If Akhenaten (or Kherebutu) is burned, PUT him in your library > (reshuffle afterwards)" These are equivalent phrases.
