No. First off, PD doesn't end combat immediately, and second, a player in combat cannot play a press (from PD or otherwise). Elysium, on the other hand, can be used by another player. -- Simeon ---------------------------- simeo...@bbs.fullcoll.edu

Another non-optimally worded card. There are three common interpretations to this card: 1) Combat until 3 consecutive rounds have passed with no cards being played. 2) Combat continues until 3 rounds in total have passed with no cards played. 3) Either 1 or 2, but cards _cannot_ be played. Of these, #1 is the correct answer. 3 consecutive rounds must pass before the effects of the Trap wear off. Cards may be played by either Meth at any time, but this resets the 'counter' àto zero. Also, only one press is provided by the Trap per turn, so either Meth wishing to end it may play a press to escape. If that press is not countered by the other Meth, combat is over and the Trap expires. : How could I Email WW to ask them? See previous answer. : Also, could any methuselah in the game tap his (untapped) Police : Department card to end the battle immediately (i.e. SUPERCEDE the trap : card effect)? No. One cannot play presses on a combat in which one has no minions involved. One could, however, use the power of either Mariel or the Elysium to interfere and end the combat, as neither of those effects involve presses. Shane H.W. I'm sure you meant to say 'not in combat' and just forgot, but just to keep everything clear for the new players... [ quoted text not captured ]

Is that an official ruling or just your interpetation Shane? I have always played that the Meth who played the trap could not press to end his own trap but I can see how the ownership of an automatic press would be open to interpretation Would appreciate an repost of the official position and/or other peoples thoughts on the matter. Thanks, Steven

[ quoted text not captured ] Well, Tom and I hammered this one out when I was putting together the Outline, and he and I are of the opinion that automatic Presses (from trap and from the "Frenzy" card) come from the card and not the minion. Some non-optional presses (from Conquer the Beast, for example) are worded so that they *do* come from the minion - so there is a fine distinction between and automatic press and a non-optional press which a minion uses. Refer to L. Scott Johnson's reply for official interpretation. As a side note, the strict rules concerning playing presses is of course to prevent players from burning unwanted cards that jam their hand. I don't think preventing a player from pressing to end his own trap would serve this purpose in a meaningful way, so you don't have to feel too annoyed by the official ruling. -- "Live Life with Heart."
