Folks: Are there Master discipline cards in Bloodlines? Is there any way to give another vampire any of the new disciplines? Is there any way to boost the discipline level? Curiously yours, Madman

Sanguine Instruction, a +1 stealth action, will permit a vampire with superior in a given discipline to 'teach' the inferior (or 'upgrade' the inferior to superior) of that discipline to a younger vampire of the same clan. (Those who claim that the correct word is "basic" have obviously never tried to beat a vampire up with INFERIOR Thaumaturgy or Potence. =) >Is there any way to boost the discipline level? There is Feral Spirit that converts Gangrel/!Gangrel to Ahrimanes and gives them spi but other than that I don't think there's any. > >Is there any way to give another vampire any of the new disciplines? > > Yes. I love Sanguine Instruction it makes a lot of deck ideas much more viable by using actions instead of masters to grant disciplines.

Yeah, there's no younger clause. I actually really like the card. First off, it makes the older vampires with all those superior disciplines that much more useful. In addition, it makes it theoretically possible for any vampire to learn even the obscure Bloodlines disciplines (Temporis, Obeah, etc.) but it makes it diffcult to do so. You have to have one of those vampires out with TEM or OBE, etc, then your other vampire has to clan impersonate to the right clan (or the other way around), and then the bloodlines vampire has to play Sanguine Instruction. Difficult yes (as it should be) but still theoretically possible. Halcyan 2

Difficult yes (as it > should be) but still theoretically possible. But you're killing two birds with one stone! You're already packing the CI's so that your scarce vamps can change clans to avoid the next scarce vamp costing the extra 3. And when it's Matthias, he can CI, and then Freak Drive and Restore, ready to teach his new buddy-buddies. (Rudolpho, of course, promptly upgrades Matthias's inferior Necromancy to superior so he can play Call of the Hungry Dead effectively. =) -- Pat Ricochet Soul Jar'rn Fool of Atlanta

I hope I get a bunch of those! it might be a good idea to include this in those decks that use some common out-of-clan disciplines: - Gangrel/dominate - Assamite/fortitude or auspex or thaumaturgy the possibilities are endless... err.. almost :-)

Many of these kids are scarce. You can always bring in another. Besides, what's the guy going to do for the turn or two you wait for your next vampire? Might as well spend a turn CI. Really, why bother though. Just play with Ian Forestal. There's no reason he shouldn't be in EVERY deck. Hell, I'd make a crazy deck with him and that H Baali guy. Good times. Don't know what the deck would do, but it'd have 6 or so different disc. in it! <snip> ~SV

CI the Scarse vamp into the clan of the target vampire(s), that way if you want another Scarse vamp of the same clan you're not making yourself pay the extra 3.

If you have a sick amount of Vial of Elder Vitae you don't need to switch clan, just Sanguine Instruction twice and you have one vampire with superior who can do the Sanguine Instruction. In the best of worlds you'll need three Vials and two actions - *ducking* Sten During

If he has a basic discipline (though a skill card or Sanguine Instruction), he can't teach that discipline to others through Sanguine Instruction -- because he doesn't have the superior, he only plays as if he does. If he only has all the disciplines you're using at basic (for the purposes of playing cards only), it'd be cheaper, pool-wise, to bring out vampires that have them at inferior or superior -- even if they're scarce. Scarcity can be circumvented by a sinigle action. One action and two blood to save three pool, versus 8 pool to play cards at basic. I hardly ever use Ian, unless he's got the disciplines I need (or most of them). He's in my pro/tha deck, for example. But I wouldn't put him in a chi/ser deck just because he almost has them both at basic. It's more efficient to use Petru, and weenies with ser/SER or chi/CHI and use skill cards (or, with the new set, Sanguine Instruction). Fanboy

Only one card can counter the Master discipline card -- any vampire that can get intercept can block SI. Fanboy

If Ian has a discipline given to him with a skill card, he has the superior. (Card text.) (This does not apply to Sanguine Instruction, merely Master Discipline cards.) [ quoted text not captured ]

But then again, Master discipline cards burn when the Methusaleh who played them is ousted (whereas the Sanguine Instruction is controlled by the controller of the minion). Discipline cards may be burned (Weakness) or stolen (Ethan Locke, Dauntain Black Magician, and now Absorb the Mind). But then again, diablerie can't retrieve Sanguine Instructions nor can Embraces use them when first played... Halcyan 2

There's always Infernal Pact for them !Tremere. "Pick a skill, any skill" OK, it doesn't count as a discipline, just lets you the appropriate play cards at superior
