Player A controls the Madness Network. Anson, controlled by player B, attempts to burn it. A declines to block. Player C also controls a Malkavian, Ozmo, but he is tapped. Can Ozmo play Wake with Evening's Freshness (or Forced Awakening) and block the action, without need for Eagle's Sight? The confusion arises from the fact that Madness Network mentions that "any untapped Malkavian" can attempt to block and Wake allows the vampire to "attempt to block as though untapped". Is this sufficient to qualify for the Madness Network's definition of an "untapped Malkavian", or is the Malkavian not eligible since even after playing Wake, he is still tapped? -- charles lechasseur - da...@novideospamtron.ca

[ quoted text not captured ] Good question. The rulebook says that you need an untapped minion to block actions, but wake allows you to (among other things) block as untapped. In this case the card evidently takes precedence over the rules. In the Madness Network example though it is a further restriction on another card, meaning IMHO that Wake cannot take precedence, as the other card has a clear restriction wake does not handle (the vampire may be able to block as untapped despite being tapped, but he is still tapped and as such does not meet the explicit requirements of Madness Network). -- Bye, Daneel

He can block as if untapped, so that is enough. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. Wake is a reaction card and can be played as a reaction to any action on the table. By playing Wake, the minion is allowed to act as though untapped. Now, since the Malk is acting as he/she is untapped, this allows the vampire to now attempt to block.
