Blood theft as damage

I don't know if this has been addressed but I've looked around and I don't think it has recently. Rev. Blackwood, the Sabbat Tremere antitribu, card states that he adds +1 to all thaumaturgy strikes. It has been decided that this +1 does not apply to bllod theft cards because it is not damage. The question I have is, does this mean that blood theft cards; theft of vitae, drain essence, are not considered damage and thus not preventable by Fortitude cards? It would seem to me that it could be argued either way but I am led to believe that blood theft is not preventable due to the precedent set by the Rev. Blackwood ruling. Thanks

[ quoted text not captured ] Correct ruling, but certainly not by precedent set by Rev. B. This is explicit in the rules, under Steal blood: [VtES]: "Steal Blood: ... This is not considered damage ..." [Jyhad]: "Steal Blood: This does not count as damage ..." Damage prevention (Flak Jacket, fortitude cards, etc.) can prevent only damage. Only damage is damage. Stealing blood (Theft of V.), stealing equipment (Fast Hands), burning blood (Blood To Water), burning equipment (Canine Horde), burning skill cards (inferior Weakness), etc. is not damage. Never has been. Also, preventing the damage from a strike won't prevent the other effects of the strike, if any. Preventing damage from a Bomb won't keep the bomb from being burned; preventing damage from Bonecraft won't prevent the card from being placed on you (and giving you -1 hand damage); etc. -- L.
