Corrupt Construction, Ally, 1 pool, Vicissitude, C , [Third] Ghoul with 1 life. 0 strength, 0 bleed. [vic] When the Construction enters play, you may remove from the game any number of ally, retainer, or vampire cards from your ash heap or hand. The Construction gains one life for each card removed in that way. The Construction gets +1 strength for each life counter it has. During your untap phase, the Construction burns 1 life. [VIC] As above, and the Construction has an additional life. Do I have to announce how many allies, retainers, vampire cards I want to burn when I announce the action, or can I just start removing them and then add an extra one if I replace another retainer/ally when discarding one from my hand?

[ quoted text not captured ] Thanks Greg. Is that official ruling from some similar cases that I can read about? I am sure the people I play with will want a guarantee when I play the deck that I have in the works now.. :)

The effect is "when the Construction enters play, you may..."

[ quoted text not captured ] Regarding the second part of the question, on whether you can 'add an extra one if I replace another retainer/ally when discarding one from my hand' - the answer is yes? That would be different from how Angelica, the Canonicus's master-discarding ability works, wouldn't it? If it is, why the difference? Josh well-embalmed

[ quoted text not captured ] Ah. Right. You can use the ones drawn to replace the Construction and any pre-action-resolution cards played (stealth, &c.) But not ones drawn to replace other ones removed from your hand.
