LSJ: War Ghoul

This ally burns a retainer or ally you control when brought into play. What if you dont currently have a retainer or ally? Are you unable to play the war ghoul then? The argument could also be applied that without an ally/ret. to burn to play, the ghoul itself is burned, I suppose.... T

Someone controls Charnas. If that person recruits a War Ghoul, she is free to burn Charnas to satisfy War Ghoul's text.
