I've just finished reading the new FAQ for Jyhad that were posted in announcements section of the trading cards game newsgroup. I have 3 questions that came to mind when I was reading it. 1) MInor Boon. Does it prevent Amaranth from happening if you play it to prevent the aggro. dam. from happening? 2) Maneuvers on weapons. Can you use the optional maneuver on your other weapon after the 1st maneuver on the weapon you wanted to use is cancelled? (ie:- use the Sat. night Special's maneuver after the .44 Magnum's manuever is cancelled ) And if yes, which weapon do you have to use for your strike? 3)Cloak the Gathering . Can you use it on another Meth.'s minion to give it the +1 stealth? I.e.:- Give your prey's political ally +1 stealth to bleed his prey during your prey's turn? Thank's for your time, CYLEE, Caitiff Justicar

Amaranth allows one to diablerize rather than letting the vampire go to torpor. When minor boon is played, the vampire would not go to torpor anyway , thus eliminating one of the necessery elements required for amaranth to be played, that being that the vampire has to be on the way to torpor. > 2) Maneuvers on weapons. Since one is bound to strike with a weapon after using the manuver on it, and there is only one strike allowed, I don't see how you could use two weapon manuvers. Perhaps it would be possible through additional strikes, but I really wouldn't know. You really should go back to those deer rifles. > 3)Cloak the Gathering . I.E. say your predator's predator had Lydia, with Pulse of the Canaille, and bonding, or something nasty like that. You could not use CtG to give Lydia extra stealth, because she does not fit the role of "acting minion you control" - tony, Prince of Iowa City

Check out the card for specifics. Erik PS: I thought that caitiff meant "clanless" and therefore would have no justicar. Though wouldn't it be cool if a bunch of caitiff started their own rogue beggar-band, dressed in tatters and urchinlike, and one among them rose into place as their Justicar, and they soon usurped the power of the camarilla and the sabbat???? I have been looking over the book "The Eternal Struggle", where it gives a bunch of tips and ideas for different types of deckbuilding...and one of the ideas is the "Weenie Madness" deck..which consists of a bunch of Vampires whose blood capacity is no more than 2.. so you get a lot out quickly... but i have a BIG problem with what he says in the book... "... and by the third turn i had EIGHT vampires out! ... " now WAIT A MINUTE.... even IF you take out the progressive one transfer, then two transfer... etc. rule at the beginning of the game, and load up half your deck on effective managements, and have ONLY one blood vampires out.. i REALLY don't see how in the world you are going to get EIGHT vampires out by the third turn... the only thing i can come up with, is that you replace vampires from the crypt to the inactive region when another becomes active, just as you replace those library cards in your hand.. and then the "spend one blood and all four transfers" rule would only be to bring a total of 5 available vamps out from the crypt instead of 4.... this REALLY doesn't sound right to me.. but i can't seem to come up with any other explanation. can ANYONE please help me here??

CYLee (cy...@blue.weeg.uiowa.edu) wrote: : 1) MInor Boon. Does it prevent Amaranth from happening if you play it to : prevent the aggro. dam. from happening? It feels like it should. However, the rule on attempts to play cards at the same time that would negate each other is that the acting minion's Methuseleh cards go first, followed by the blocker, followed by other Methuselehs. Hence if the acting Meth plays Amaranth, it will go off before any Meth can play Minor Boon, and there's no vampire to Boon. If the blocker plays it, only the acting Methuseleh could play Minor Boon first, and he can't play it on his own vampire. So Amaranth wins. Curt Adams (curt...@aol.com)

Hmm...let's see. I think the optimal situation would be (assuming you either went 4th in a 4+ player game or didn't use the "start with 1 transfer" rule)... TURN 1: You start with 4 Caitiff in your uncontrolled region. Play Info Highway. Bring out 2 vamps (2T/2P) and spend 4T/1P for another. TURN 2: Play Effective Management (you now have 3 Caitiff down). For influence, bring out 2 more vamps and spend 4T/1P for another. TURN 3: Play E.M. Do the same thing. All Six Caitiff by turn 3, but that's the best I can do. I don't know how Rumors of Gehenna works, but you could prob use that to increase the num of E.M.s you could play. Bringing out Koko would let you use Kindred Intelligence... -- Meow!

No. Minor Boon does not prevent the damage from happening. The acting player's card has precedence. If she plays Amaranth, then the blocker is burned. If she plays Minor Boon (under a house rule allowing Master-Out-of-Turn cards to be played, or if she were controlling a Malkavian who was taking an action on someboidy else's turn via Madness Network), then Amaranth could not be played, as the blocker is no longer going to torpor. >: 2) Maneuvers on weapons. I think Minor Boon is more akin to the damage-preventing cards, and there *is* the opportunity to play those to stop the Amaranth (you have to be going to torpor, and if that is stopped, you can't play Amaranth). You can't gloss by a sub-phase, and if I want to play a card in the damage prevention sub-phase, you can't stomp on me with Amaranth. While we both try to play them at the same physical time, you have to wait to play Amaranth until the damage prevention sub-phase is gone. So, I would say that Minor Boon *does* prevent Amaranth.
