Dark Sovereigns --------------- House Rules List (net.personality-generated) ============================================ Additions and changes since the last listing (doesn't include changes to the support/opposition lines): ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Description of the List ----------------------- * This list is posted on rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad on the first of every month. * This is a compilation of opinions from net.users. All net.users are invited to add to this list (through e-mail to me). The more, the merrier. * Additions and comments should be sent to: sjoh...@math.sc.edu Please include the text "house rule" in the subject line. * NOTE: Some rules are mix-n-match, some are mutually exclusive. Take what you want and ignore the rest. * Opposition to a particular house rule is marked with -INI- (instead of [INI], which indicates support). * If you want more information on a rule, e-mail the first person listed on the support line - please don't clutter the newsgroup with it. Thanks. (Chances are high that any odd rule has been hashed over too much already.) Clarifications and Design Considerations ---------------------------------------- Re_vamp_ing rules that worked satisfactorily anyhow (includes wallpaper). o. Equipment-Locations are *not* equipment in any way, neither when brought into play nor while on a minion. The are "equipped" simply as an undirected action at +1 stealth. [LSJ] [SHWT] -ALS- o. Inner Circle members are granted any option available to a Justicar. [LSJ] [STK] [JRM] [NJP] -ALS- -SHWT- # o. All vampires with the statement "If your prey has a ready (insert clan), # this vampire gets +X bleed" should be read as "This vampire has +X bleed # when bleeding a Methuselah who controls a ready (insert clan)." # [JAL] [ALS] [NJP] [LSJ] Acquired Ventrue Assets - Doesn't offer a burn option, bringing it in line with Hunting Grounds. [LSJ] -ALS- Banishment - #Titles gained would be forgotten, just as titles lost (or any other # permanent effect not represented by a card in play). #[LSJ] [ALS] Brujah Debate - Costs zero pool. [LSJ] Burning Wrath - All hand damage done with Burning Wrath is aggravated, as the comma implies. [LSJ] [ALS] Closed Session - Unique. Action taken by any Prince, Justicar or IC member. +1 Stealth. Put this card into play. While this card is in play, Non-Camarilla vampires cannot vote during politcal actions called by Camarilla vampires. This card may be burned by a political action, called as an action at +1 stealth. [DP] [LSJ] -ALS- Corpse Minion - Costs zero pool. [LSJ] Fear of Mekhet - may be moved to a Justicar or IC member. [LSJ] [ALS] [STK] [NJP] # Force of Will - # Causes only one action (an enhanced (D) Bleed), and does not untap the # acting (tapped) vampire. # [LSJ] [ALS] [SHWT] Forest of Shadows - Costs zero pool. [LSJ] Gangrel Revel - Costs only one pool. [LSJ] Goodnight, Sweet Prince - Gain four pool (a net of two) if the burned vampire is a Prince. [LSJ] [ALS] Heidelburg Castle - May only be tapped at a point where an action could be attempted (not after declaration of an action, not after block attempts, etc.) In effect - it allows a no-cost, unblockable, immediate transfer 'action' which may be taken during anyone's minion phase (tapping itself rather than one of the vampires involved). [LSJ] [ALS] [NJP] May only be tapped during any player's {Untap, Master, Discard, Influence} phase, or when an action {is announced, resolves}. (Choose one or more) [ALS] Louvre, Paris, The - Costs zero pool. Comes into play tapped. [LSJ] Madness of the Bard - The rhymes spoken must be spoken in a real language that all the current players can understand. [NJP] -ALS- The rhymes spoken do not have to make sense, as long as the words used in the rhymes are real. [NJP] [ALS] Costs zero pool. [LSJ] Malkavian Seven Miseries - Costs zero pool. Is unique. [LSJ] Nosferatu Hosting - Costs zero pool. [LSJ] Of Noble Blood - Can only target a vampire you control. [LSJ] -ALS- Oxford University, England - Costs zero pool. Tap and burn just X pool for X votes. [LSJ] Pere Lachaise, France - Doesn't offer a burn option. [LSJ] -ALS- Is not burned when a vampire is successfully revived. [ALS] Powerbase: Berlin - Doesn't offer a steal option. [LSJ] -ALS- Powerbase: Rome - Doesn't offer a steal option. [LSJ] -ALS- Ravnos Cache - Doesn't offer a burn option. [LSJ] -ALS- Regina Giovanni, The Right Hand of Augustus - Reduces the cost of Recruiting Allies and Employing Retainers by one blood or one pool, as appropriate. [LSJ] [ALS] [SHWT] [STK] Riposte - Does its damage after combat ends, as implied by card text. (And does not allow strike resolution to continue, of course). [LSJ] [ALS] Ruins of Villars Abbey, Belguim - The vampire can pay blood *during* choose range phase, as needed. [LSJ] [ALS] Sacre Cour Cathedral, France - Costs zero pool. [LSJ] Treatment, The - The action to burn is directed, by definition of directed. [LSJ] [ALS] [NJP] Tremere Convocation - Costs zero pool. Is unique. [LSJ] Ventrue Directorate Assembly - Can be burned by a vote (at +1 stealth) [no burn by a (D) action]. [ALS] [LSJ] Wasserschloss Anif, Austria - Costs zero pool. [LSJ] Werewolf Pack - The Werewolf Pack is not damaged by any weapons except ones which deal aggravated damage. This does not include weapons which deal aggravated damage as the result of Dawn Operation. [NJP] [ALS] Can prevent one damage each combat. During the controller's untap phase, if the Pack has less than 3 lives, add one from the blood bank. [LSJ] Game World Considerations -------------------------- Changes to make the card game feel like, or reflect the mechanics of, the "real" world (where vampires exist, of course). Haven Uncovered - if played on a vampire who has a Secure Haven on him, or if Secure Haven is played on a vampire who has a Secure Haven, both Haven cards are burned. [STK] [SHWT] [ALS] Horrid Reality - The weapon gained is burned or re-shuffled (as appropriate to the skill) regardless of who controls the weapon at the end of combat, even if it had been stolen or burned during combat (it was just an illusion, after all). (This is the official view, except that a burned weapon would not be reshuffled for superior). [LSJ] [ALS] [SHWT] [STK] Secure Haven - if played on a vampire who has a Haven Uncovered on him, or if Haven Uncovered is played on a vampire who has a Secure Haven, both Haven cards are burned. [STK] [SHWT] [ALS] Thoughts Betrayed - change superior to: Opposing minion cannot play any cards /during combat/. (TB is still played before combat, as written.) [SHWT] [LSJ] -ALS- change superior to: Opponent cannot play any cards /during the first round/ of combat. [JRM] change superior to: As above, and the cost of each card that the opposing minion plays is increased by one blood for the remainder of combat (Allies would therefore be unable to play cards for the remainder of combat). [ALS] Triole's Revenge - The victim Ventrue is burned only when the blood he gains from hunting would cause him to exceed his capacity (when the excess would normally be discarded or ignored). [LSJ] [ALS] [SHWT] Werewolf Pack - Is not unique. [LSJ] [ALS] ---------- Rules indented with "# " are commented out - they have become the official rules. They are left in this list in the event that the RT reverses the ruling (making the rule once again just a house rule). [ALS] - Adrian L. Sullivan - The Corrupter (alsu...@students.wisc.edu) [DP] - David Pontes(l41...@alfa.ist.utl.pt) [JAL] - J. Andrew Lipscomb (ew...@chattanooga.net) [LSJ] - L. Scott Johnson (sjoh...@math.sc.edu) [NJP] - Nikki Purvis (npu...@tiger.lsu.edu) [SHWT]- Shane H. W. Travis (tra...@duke.usask.ca) [STK] - Steve Kertes (ker...@netcom.com) -- L.
