It has been stated.
Both explicitly: "The cardbacks will remain the same"
and implicitly: "The new game will be 100% playable with the current cards"

Would you please clipyour source for the first statement, with a
little more context so that I can find it in my copy? Because I
read the statement several times, and never found that.
Secondly, being able to play the new game with the old cards
does not imply that you can play the new game with a *mix* of
old cards and new cards. And that's what people are worried
about.
Tom Wylie, what are the official plans?

That hasn't been stated. What *has* been stated is that the Jyhad
*logo* will remain the same. It remains to be seen what will
happen to the cardbacks...

Here are ALL relevant sections from the press release. As Tom has said
nothing on the topic, this is the only gospel from WotC that we have:
"Despite the changes, Vampire: The Eternal Struggle
rules will be 100% playable with Jyhad cards. The game will also keep the
green marble look and the Jyhad symbol."
This says *nothing* about the card backs. All it mentions is the symbol
(that three sided oval thing, I interpret that to mean), and that the
new rules will be playable with Jyhad cards. Also it mentions that the
'game' will keep the green marble look (a look which has been associated
with the White Wolf game from the start). Nowhere does it say squat
about the card layout, front, back, or sides. Who knows, for all it
says here, they could even be cut like alpha Magic cards!
I'm not offering any sort of opinion either way, I'm just saying that
Wizards has *not said a word* about the card backs. If you can show
me other sources which I have not seen, I will gladly read them. But
as of now, WotC has not offered any information on the card backs for
Vampire: the Eternal Struggle.
