Mask o 1000 Faces question?

Q: Can one play Mask of 1K Faces multiple times on a single action, provided there are multiple vampires with obfuscate to play the card? Example: Agrippina is bleeding. Then Tusk plays Mask to say HE's really doing it. Then Grendel plays another to say HE's really doing it. Then Agrippina plays a 3rd one to say that it was really her all along. Each vampire plays the card only once, so this does not seem to violate the rule that no minion can play an identical action modifier on a single action. Q: Can one use the superior version, even if one does not need the stealth? (For instance, in the above example, does the action end up at +3 stealth by the time it gets back to Agrippina, even if, up until this point, no one has declared a block.)

Remember, Mask is an *action* card, not an action modifier; so each : vampire is taking a seperate action. Handy if you are playing a : combination bleed deck--eg, Pre/Dom (Malks/FoS--Social Charm, Aire of : Elation, then Mask to a Malk for Conditioning or Foreshadowing : Destruction)--or stealth combat (Nos or Ass), switch the action from a : small, weak vamp (or caitiff) to a large heavy-hitter. What? Both the Jyhad and V:tES editions have "action modifier" symbols. Was there a ruling to change this? Also, I thought that one of the restrictions on Mo1kF was that a vampire could not use it to take over an action he is incapable of performing. Thus your combination bleed deck would be unworkable. : > Q: Can one use the superior version, even if one does not need the : > stealth? : If no one attempts to block, then you cannot throw stealth. If you don't : need the stealth, then why worry about it? Mask works just the same at : inferior. Hmmm. I'm not sure this is absolutely true. There are lots of "action" cards that add stealth before the opponent has a chance to block, including all the political actions. If it IS an action card, then why is playing it at superior any different from playing a political action, with its automatic +1 stealth. I'm not worried about it, just curious. It is a question that might conceivably come up in playing a deck I've designed. I'm interested in this card because it is one of the few stealth cards that can be burned to prevent hand jam if you do not need the stealth. Another such card is Spying Mission. J.B.Whelan

Both the Jyhad and V:tES editions have "action modifier" > symbols. Was there a ruling to change this? Ther is none. Mask is and always has been a modifier. But, each vampire with superior obfuscate can play one Mask to give the acting minion +1 steath. > Also, I thought that one of the restrictions on Mo1kF was that a > vampire could not use it to take over an action he is incapable of > performing. Thus your combination bleed deck would be unworkable. No, the restriction is that a minion cannot use the Mask to take over an action that he is explicitly forbidden from doing (like hunting with Talbot's Chainsaw in hand). Also, you cannot take over another minion's inherent action (like the Garou's +1 stealth rush). Taking over an action that you lack the skill (or even the clan) to perform is allowed. > : > Q: Can one use the superior version, even if one does not need the > : > stealth? > > : If no one attempts to block, then you cannot throw stealth. Correct. Stealth cannot be added to an action (or minion) unless it is needed. > I'm interested in this card because it is one of the few stealth > cards that can be burned to prevent hand jam if you do not need the > stealth. Another such card is Spying Mission. Spying mission cannot be burned needlessly, you either use it for the (needed) stealth (inferior), or you use it at the end of a successful bleed action (for it's full effect)(superior). --- L. If a minion started out an action that required a specific clan to play, would a masked minion not of that clan be able to continue the action to a successful conclusion? Yes, the action would be successful. A Nos could Mask an recruit Political Ally from a Ventrue, and the ally would come into play if the action was ultimately successful. -- L.
