Quick question, in Australia the qualifying mark is top 50%, whilst everywhere else it is top 25%. If I go to a qualifier and end up in the top 50% but not the top 25% I won't qualify for an O/S Championship, but by the fact that I am now qualified in Australia, I no longer count for qualification purposes in other qualifiers. So does this mean that I'm screwed if this happens to me? Can I not qualify for the NAC If I qual in Australia at say 40%? Or can I continue turning up to qualifiers to try and get into that top 25% bracket? --> J grail_pbem "at" hotmail.com

[ quoted text not captured ] That's a very good question and might affect me as well depending on the state of the bank balance next year and when I decide to holiday in Europe. What are you planning on attending J, the NAC or the EC? Simon

The NAC. My parent's just got back from Canada and told us how much they liked it, so thought next year's holiday would be there. The Mrs has seen a fair bit of Europe, and we also went there this year, so North America might be nice. [ quoted text not captured ]

[ quoted text not captured ] If it makes you feel any better, I brought up this exact point years ago (as early as May 2005) back on the old Conclave list. As far as I can recall, I never did get a satisfactory response!

[ quoted text not captured ] You need to leave in the important text. In any case, if you are qualified any where, you can play everywhere. There is no exception made for the 49th percentile Australian qualifier. If you qualify by Aussie rules, you can play at the NAC and the EC.

[ quoted text not captured ] I understand the reasoning behind Australia being different, and it shows a great understanding on behalf of WW to the Australian situation (large land mass with a small population sparsely spread). However, these rules will probably unfairly disadvantage us Australian's wanting to play overseas if the rules will be upheld as I fear (percentile 50-26 qualifying but not for OS champsionships). Everywhere else, you can try again if you fail to qualify, but possibly not for an Australian wanting to play in the EC or NAC or whatever. It's going to end up becoming kind of farcical if this is the ruling, because I can tell you that if I don't win the first game, I'll either be dropping out after 1 round or self-destructing in the final 2 games so that I don't qualify at all, giving me a 2nd shot at it later on. As such I implore the V:TES powers that be look to either allowing all qualifications to stand regardless of where they were, or they allow players who qualify in Australia and who finish top 25% in a qualifier afterwards to knock their qualification up to successful for events outside of Australia. I know you mentioned that you've passed it onto Oscar, but as I haven't heard anything back yet I thought that I'd start pushing the barrow a bit more. Afterall, it costs a lot of money to travel overseas (especially for us Australians), and I'd like to have a decent shot at playing before beginning to organise travel. cheers [ quoted text not captured ]

[ quoted text not captured ] Another fly in the ointment. What about organisers of Qualifying events/National events in Australia? Their qualification is automatic the world over according to White Wolf rules. D

I second everything J says (except the part where he mentions us Australians, he means Antipodeans). It's relatively cheap and easy in Europe to attend a couple of qualifiers should you choose too, not so cheap down under. Not that cost should be a major factor I guess, preserving quality and all that, but it cost me more for flights and three nights accomodation Wellington -> Sydney than it did for my partner and I to do a 12 day holiday in Europe taking in the EC in Turin (1) in the middle. Simon 1. This was a *total* coincidence of timing if anyone is ever talking to my other half ;-)

How many emails did you send to Orgplay in that time? It seems that this is something you should take up with him, possibly through your NC. DZ AW

[ quoted text not captured ] I say, let them play, if they take such a long trip to play at a Continental Championship, the more the merrier. And if qualifying in Australia is so difficult, even with the 50% margin, what the hell. We in Europe can have so many opportunities to qualify, now even more with the Mini-Qualifiers. I would appreciate to let them play. Just my 2 Eurocents eRol who finds Australina Surf Girls quite attractive

[ quoted text not captured ] Relaxation is the sensation, mate. eRol feeling to be in Australia now would be very nice and sunny, indeed
