Crimethink: Requires an anarch. Play after resolving a successful action that requires an anarch or makes this vampire an anarch. [pro] Untap this anarch. [qui] Untap another ready anarch. [tha] Put this card in play. During your minion phase, you may burn a pool to untap a ready anarch you control. Calvin Cleaver: Clan: Gangrel for pro Capacity: 3 Camarilla Group: 4 Ability: Calvin may add a blood to an anarch as a +1 stealth action. Once each turn, an anarch may add a blood to Calvin as a +1 stealth action. Can Calvin use Crimethink to uptap after using his special? Can Anarchs untap after using his special? I'm thinking yes because either way, it requires that an anarch be involved, whether or not Calvin is anarch or not. Thanks, Brandon

No. That action does not require that the acting minion be an anarch. > Can > Anarchs untap after using his special? Yes. The action requires an anarch by card text. (Precedent: the action to add a counter to an in-play Call the Great Beast requires Baali, as indicated here: http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/msg/b914595f422abbdc) -witness1

No. It requires Calvin, and he could do it whatever sect he is. It targets an anarch, but that's not the same as a requirement. http://forums.white-wolf.com/viewtopic.php?p=1258525 *** No. That action requires Calvin and targets an anarch. Similarly, the Arson doesn't require a location in the game sense. Non-locations can take that action. *** > Can >Anarchs untap after using his special? Yes. Can any amount of anarchs you have do that action, or is it limited to one? I can see your point, I just think that technically, the action does require and anarch, just not that *he* be an anarch. Could be worded "Requires that the acting minion be an anarch. Play after resolving a successful action that requires that the acting minion be an anarch or that makes this minion an anarch," but that's wordy and once the ruling is clarified, it's not needed.

[ quoted text not captured ] In rules terms, the requirements of an action are the things the acting minion must meet. See the explanatory text quoted by James Coupe re: Arson. If the action requires an anarch, that means only anarchs can take the action. If a non-anarch can take a given action, that means that given action doesn't require an anarch.

(Note: it would really help if you'd follow Usenet convention and quote the appropriate parts of the previous article.) The action Calvin grants to others is "Once each turn, an anarch...", so once each turn, one anarch can take the action. >I can see your point, I just think that technically, the action >does require and anarch, just not that *he* be an anarch. Assuming you're talking about Calvin's action that he takes himself, technically, no it doesn't require an anarch. Actions that require X can only be taken by minions that meet those requirements - such as a particular clan or sect. For example, Nosferatu Performance Art requires a Nosferatu. It targets a Toreador. It does not require a Toreador, otherwise it would require two clans at once! [ quoted text not captured ]

[ quoted text not captured ] A separate, and silly, but related question: For purposes of The Grandest Trick, is Quincy the Trapper's inherent action (to burn an ally) "an action that requires a vampire"? It is an action that requires Quincy, for sure. And the game currently has no way for Quincy to announce the action when Quincy is not a vampire. Does that mean that it "requires a vampire"? (I assume "no", but there's wiggle room)
