Is obedience playable by a blocking vampire? It says usable by a vampire entering combat with a younger vampire, but since it is a reaction card, is it played before the vampire is tapped for a successful block or can it not played because the vampire is tapped from blocking? Ex: Theo Bell (7) rushes Gideon (3) and Democritus (10) blocks. Can Democritus obedience? Thanks, Dan

If Democritus is tapped, and Theo Bell Ambushes Democritus, no blockers, can Democritus Obedience? - Jason Bell

[ quoted text not captured ] Tapped vampires cannot block, either. But sure. [ quoted text not captured ]

If so, then he needn't block first - if he can play reaction cards, he can play reaction cards. > Speaking of tappedness....can mariel/the investigator, etc use their > tap effects in torpor? If the ability doesn't require them to be ready, sure. [ quoted text not captured ]

This reacting vamipre can use reaction cards and attempt to block as though untapped until the current action is concluded. But notice the card never says you untap, thus a tapped vampire can block in the proper event sequence. Raille

LSJ

[ quoted text not captured ] Right. [1.4] I don't find it necessary to say "card text can override this rule" after every rule. [ quoted text not captured ]

In message <3b936b04.1157531379@news>, Talo...@hotmail.com writes >Well I knew that, but I thought there was something about 'blocking' >on Obedience. "Only usable when this reacting vampire is about to enter combat with an acting younger vampire." The reacting minion does not need to be blocking. Hence Obedience is defence against rush decks which you aren't blocking. >I guess that only refers to the acting minion's action >now being 'blocked'? "The acting vampire is blocked and cannot attempt the same action this turn." This is the only reference to blocking on the card. Obedience itself blocks the action.
