Can a steal or destroy weapon with first strike card be dodged? Tonight I blocked a vampire with one of my minions that had superior animalism. He had a Sengir Dagger and I wanted to play Canine Horde superior form. He as the acting vampire played dodge with an additional strike and I played the Canine Horde. We have always resolved first strikes first but I think the official ruling is that first strikes can be dodged, or even combat ends. Also, forgetting the above senario, if you are the reacting vampire playing any first strike card, are you supposed to declare your strike before the acting vampire does? Thanks again

Dodge negates the effects of the opposing minion's strike on your *minion* (I believe, though IANALSJ, that if the opposing minion is applying damage to a retainer -- using ranged damage at long range -- your dodge does nothing to help out your retainer.) And no, dodge does *not* cancel Strike: Combat Ends. > Also, forgetting the above senario, if you are the reacting vampire > playing any first strike card, are you supposed to declare your strike > before the acting vampire does? Thanks again This is a pretty good question. I *think* that the reacting vampire still declares second...just simply has the benefit of having his strike resolve first. Which *can* make the Assamites nasty with first strike aggravated... Correct. Dodge protects the dodging minion and any non-Retainer cards on the dodging minion from the effects of the opposing minion's strike. > And no, > dodge does *not* cancel Strike: Combat Ends. But combat ends does pre-empt strikes with First Strike, which is where Bryan was heading, I think. > > Also, forgetting the above senario, if you are the reacting vampire > > playing any first strike card, are you supposed to declare your strike > > before the acting vampire does?
