If an untapped vampire is rescued from torpor (16.3), may it perform
an action?
If so and if the vampire has no blood (or had one blood point which it
used to leave torpor), must it immediately hunt (12.3.1)?
If combat continues to another round after a press, is the range close
or (if changed to long range previously) at long?
Charming Lobby - "Call a vote." Can the acting vampire call this vote
or must it be another action by another vampire?
Can Giant's Blood be used to place blood on an uncontrolled vampire?
Because Read Intentions does not say "Strike", can a vampire with
enhanced Auspex use it to strike and dodge in the same combat round?
Can a Bonding card be played in addition to a Conditioning or Threats
card in a single action?
Does the Wolf Companion do damage if combat is at long range?

Yuppers. If it has no blood, however, it must hunt as its action.
: If so and if the vampire has no blood (or had one blood point which it: used to leave torpor), must it immediately hunt (12.3.1)?
Well, before your minion phase is over. (By the way, it costs two blood to
rescue from torpor... =)
: If combat continues to another round after a press, is the range close: or (if changed to long range previously) at long?
Each round always starts at close range.
: Charming Lobby - "Call a vote." Can the acting vampire call this vote: or must it be another action by another vampire?
Charming Lobby is a little screwy, the Design Team just posted it in the
Official Jyhad FAQ that's in the newsgroup somewhere. It requires three
vampires: one to use the Charming Lobby, another to call a vote, and still
another to call a vote that succeeds automatically (if not intercepted). All
of these actions must not be blocked successfully in order for the Charming
Lobby to work. (At least, that's my understanding.)
: Can Giant's Blood be used to place blood on an uncontrolled vampire?
Hmm. Don't have my card here, but I believe it says either "controlled" or
"ready", so no, Giant's Blood cannot be used on a vamp in your uncontrolled
region.
: Because Read Intentions does not say "Strike", can a vampire with: enhanced Auspex use it to strike and dodge in the same combat round?
More errata from the FAQ, all Dodge cards should be read as having "Strike:"
included on the card.
: Can a Bonding card be played in addition to a Conditioning or Threats: card in a single action?
Nope. More stuff from the FAQ: I believe you can use another if Mask of 1000
Faces is used, or something similar.
: Does the Wolf Companion do damage if combat is at long range?
Nope. (You guessed it, more errata. The Wolf Companion has a long entry in
the FAQ, it might be worth looking at. =)

No, empty vampires must only hunt at the start of the minion phase. If they
become empty, untapped, and ready during the minion phase, they are under no restrictions.

Range is reset at the begining of each round of combat.

It requires three different vampire actions to be successful. See the latest

No.

Yes. Any untapped minion may take an action (during your minion phase).

No. But it can take no other action. (You could leave it untapped to
block, however).
Note that this is a reversal of an earlier ruling that stated
that any empty vampire must hunt immediately (on it's controller's
minion phase).

Each round starts at close.

Officially: the vote is called bya a second vampire. If successful, the
next vote called by (a third) vampire would succeed automatically.

No. Nothing affects uncontrolled vampires unless explicitly stated on the
card.

All dodges are strikes, even if the card forgot to say so.

Peace Peter,
Yes.

No (according to the latest FAQ [18 Apr 95]). It has the option, but is
not required.

The second (or subsequent) rounds of combat always start as close (but
can be maneuvered to long). That is the range 'resets' to close each round.
> Charming Lobby - "Call a vote." Can the acting vampire call this vote
> or must it be another action by another vampire?
Officially, it take three vamps to use CL (blech!). Unofficially, most
of the net.elders agree that CL should call a vote and that the passage
of that referendum causes the next vote to auto-pass.
> Can Giant's Blood be used to place blood on an uncontrolled vampire?
No.

All cards that say "Dodge" have been errata'd to say "Strike:Dodge," so
the answer is no.

Absolutely not.

No, but the extremely similar Murder of Crows does.

If a vampire comes out of torpor (rescued) untapped and with no blood
in it the only thing it can do is hunt. However, there is nothing in
the rules that says it must hunt. So it can stay untapped and block
later, or wait to receive blood from somewhere (Hunting Grounds, Blood
Doll)
The only time that a vampire must hunt is in the BEGINNING of the
minion phase IF the vampire has no blood in it. So when a vampire
comes out of torpor with no blood it is not the beginning of the
minion phase any more and the vampire can choose not to hunt. However
it can not do anything else either during that phase.

According to DTR (this one I agree with), a minion is subject to
imminent, mandatory hunting anytime it is untapped, ready and
has no blood in your minion phase.

Not anymore, Alan; they changed this one as of the last FAQ.
The ruling changed back to: If a minion _begins_ the minion phase
untapped, ready and with no blood, it must immediately hunt before any
other minion may take an action. If it fulfils these conditions at any
other time, it may remain untapped and bloodless until the next minion
phase, and may be used for blocking purposes and reaction cards.

If a vampire is untapped and ready it may perform an action. It
doesn't matter how that vampire *got* untapped and ready (as long as it
was legal :-)). So if you rescue one of your vampires from torpor on
your turn, that vampire is free to make actions immediately.
>If so and if the vampire has no blood (or had one blood point which it
>used to leave torpor), must it immediately hunt (12.3.1)?
If it has no blood, the only action it can take is hunt. It may
do so immediately. *However,* the DT's latest rulings have reversed a
long standing ruling, and the only time a vampire with no blood MUST
hunt is at the beginning of the minion phase, so while the rescued
vampire *may* hunt, it is not forced to.
>If combat continues to another round after a press, is the range close>or (if changed to long range previously) at long?
Each round of combat starts at short range. The 'determine
range' step always begins with both vampires close. You must maneuver
each round to get the combat to long range.
>Can Giant's Blood be used to place blood on an uncontrolled vampire?
Cards cannot affect uncontrolled vampires in any way unless they
specifically state that they can. So you cannot play Giant's Blood on
an uncontrolled vampire.
>Because Read Intentions does not say "Strike", can a vampire with
>enhanced Auspex use it to strike and dodge in the same combat round?
All dodges are considered strikes, even if they forgot to put
the word "strike" on the card.
>Can a Bonding card be played in addition to a Conditioning or Threats
>card in a single action?
No. All of these cards carry the restriction that only one of
them can be played.
>Does the Wolf Companion do damage if combat is at long range?
No. There is a rare retainer called "Murder of Crows" that does
ranged damage. The wolf only does short range damage.

Really?! So the wielder of Talbot's Chainsaw may now perform actions
when at 0 blood because it is only forced to hunt (and cannot) at the
beginning of the Minion Phase! Awright!

No. The *only* action an empty vampire can take is hunting.
That hasn't changed. What *has* changed is that it is no longer
mandatory when that minion becomes ready later in the phase. However,
that vampire can take no other action than hunting. This means no
attacks, no bleeds, no votes, no Talbot's Chainsaw. And TC still
forbids it from hunting, so an empty vampire with TC can still do
nothing.

No, It may choose not to hunt if it is empty, but was not empty at the
start of the Minion phase.
Despite the choice, an empty vampire may take no actio other than hunt.
It may choose to do nothing (leave itself untapped) if and only if it
began the Minion phase non-empty.
Began Empty? -> Must hunt before any other actions are taken.
Is Empty? -> May hunt or do nothing.
If (Talbot's Chainsaw), hunt := do nothing.

Peace Alan,
The most recent FAQ (27/8 Apr 95) reversed this. Marko is right. You don't
have to hunt, but you can do nothing else. If a vampire _begins_ the minion
phase with zero blood, it must hunt as the very first action.

That's been reversed, Alan. Now it's the beginning of the
minion phase only that has the mandatory hunt restriction. The wheel
turns, does it not?

Thus, when an empty TC weilder enters the minion phase, he must hunt.
The TC says that he _cannot_ hunt, however, and so he is stuck and unable
