A question for LSJ: Here's the situation- Vamp A bleeds and is blocked by Vamp B. Vamp A plays Dawn Op and Drawing Out the Beast. Vamp B plays Skin of Night. Vamp A punches and plays Claws of the Dead, and plays Rotschreck. Question- 1. Does Skin of Night prevent the effects of Rotschreck? Thanks, David -- David M. Does Skin of Night prevent the effects of Rotschreck? Vamp A has attempted an aggravates strike. The strike is legal and legitamate (not at long range and not prevented by the ANTI-Immortal Grapple Card - wouldn't that be nice?). Since the strike was declared, the Rotschreck can be played (and will take effect unless SR'd). You can Rot Merril, that much I do know. It has nothing to do with prevention, or changing, or even being immune (Heart of Darkness). It has to do with a legal strike declaration of an aggravated nature. Even Vampires are afraid of some things and in some situations. My 2 pool. Stu -Your Friendly Neighborhood Camarilla Scholar [ quoted text not captured ]

Does Skin of Night prevent the effects of Rotschreck? IANLSJ but... Rotschreck doesn't care how the damage would resolve if it got that far. In this case, the damage would be treated as normal if combat got as far as the damage resolution phase. Rotz only cares if one of the minions *attempts* to use aggravated damage. I could be wrong and if I am, I am sure LSJ will correct me, but I don't think I am. Correct. So Rotz can be played on Vamp B, sending him to torpor. (At which time the round will end and, if DotB was played at superior, Vamp A will take one point of unpreventable damage, made agg by Dawn Op, and also go to torpor unless he can turn it to normal damage.) -- LSJ (vte...@wizards.com) V:TES Net.Rep for Wizards of the Coast.
